Dansk, M&K or Fabspeed Pre-Muffler

Other than the fact that two of them are total "Bling Bling" what are the odds that they don't all accomplish the same thing with a different look?

Looking into the purchase of one but ONE is all I want to purchase!

Thanks.

I've owned all three at one time or another, at least once.

Choosing exhaust is so subjective. What are you trying to accomplish? Better sound? Lighter weight? Less restrictive?

If I had to pick only one item, I would personally choose the M&K. It's light, sounds good and is less restrictive.

The Dansk is exactly like the factory bypass except in Stainless Steel.
Have used several, like the Dansk best.

M&K is the lightest, and it's my choice.

I owned SC's when they were "contemporary" but it's been a long time. Since then all the cars have been long hood variants and an occasional 356.

My understanding is that the car does perform "better" with some sort of back pressure in the exhaust line. I used a test-pipe back in the day on an '80 Weissach. It did nothing for performance.

I want something as close to factory as possible and for that "look" I'm reasonably sure M&K have it down to as good as it gets unless I'm missing something in the factory diagrams.
They all claim to make horsepower but in all honesty that's not what I'm after. Not These early 3.0 engines run quite nicely as is. Not losing what's there is the best case scenario.

Thanks!

+1 for the M&K. Even though my wife reminds me every Summer that she misses the stock 911 sound it was a trade-off - weight and performance vs. sound.

Supersprint also makes one. I really wish they would make a complete system for the 3.2.

This is just outright wrong. The backpressure myth never seems to go away.

If you went from a "CAT" to this how could the sound be worse?

Thanks,

Tom

Our design uses a merge collector with O2 bung positioned at the merge point. Material is 321 stainless which is both ultra light weight and more durable than 304. You get what you pay for. Garanteed.

Pictured in brushed finish, standard is raw finish.

Are the exhaust flanges the same thickness as shown in the picture of the unfinished one? Can't tell from the angle. Pretty work.

A secondary issue is after-sale support. M&K is made here in the USA, and if you have a problem with their product, they handle it. First-rate service.

I have a Burch Cat by-pass pipe from our sponsor and combined with the Dansk sport muffler, it sound really good to me. It is not super noisy so it does not bother my neighbors in the morning, but it does have a nice growl to it to make you notice.

i've had the fabspeed and the M&K and i'd suggest the M&K. it's made from 321 instead of 304, quality is fantastic and it's lightweight. the guys at M&K are great to work with and are very responsive. i'm having a 'motorsport' version of their 1in/1out muffler built right now and Brian has been great to work with. i told him the kind of sound i was looking for, the systems i've had on previous and current cars and which i liked the best and he made a suggestion based on that info. i'm hoping it's going to be the exact sound i'm looking for. i'll post on that muffler and it's sound when i get it in my hands.

Another vote for M&K. One more thing to consider is fitment. I know M&K flange angles and tolerances are spot-on with stock pieces. That means when you go to hook up to your muffler and HE everthing will bolt up nicely. I've seen threads here, and some first-hand examples, where the other brands have some difficulty in this respect sometimes...

I've had the Dansk version and the Fabspeed version with a stock, GHL, and Dansk Sport exhaust.

Like you said, non of the combinations make any more power. I had the fabspeed first and it was really loud compared to the CAT. Then I switched to the Dansk. It was a bit better. That's when I moved to the Danske Sport muffler. The combo was ok.

Now I run SSI's and a Monty. I will never change it.
