What's your car weigh?

Always wondered what my car weighed and figured I'd easily find a thread here that was the registry of weights for the various ages and levels of mods. Is there such a thread?

Had the great opportunity to have my lowly '88 Cabriolet atop the tech scales at California Festival of Speed yesterday evening. Went real quick and didn't see the corner weights, but the car itself came in at a total of 2,630 lbs with a full tank and the spare tire. I know that's gotta be a good number....is there somewhere to look to see how good?

Not saying wrong, but how is that possible? You stripped some weight out?

My 87 weighed 2750 with no AC or heat, but turbo bits.

LOLz.....Yes, stripped I did.

Weight addition list is a short one and looks something like this: Turbo brakes, Cibie Super Bi-Oscar lights, rear coil-overs, longer wheel studs, steel lug nuts and longer lugs, strut brace, big go pedal

Weight loss list is somewhat longer and looks like this: stock fog lights delete, H5 headlights swap for H4, stock wheel swapped to Prototipo, fresh air box and controls delete, center console delete, central locking delete, footwell blower and cover delete, auto-heat swap to manual pulls, stock door cards and pockets swap to RSR cards and pulls, rear seat delete, flapper box backdate, heat blower bypass, A/C delete, tail light swap to 69R, bumperette delete W/welded holes, rocker delete, rear skirt delete, stock full electric sport seats swapped to Sparco Evo III in leather, stock carpet swapped to RS Perlon felt, stock deck lid swapped for ducktail w/alu mesh, and other such lightness.....

Mine came in at 2620 on certified scale. With 1/2 tank of fuel, spare, tools and compressor. I had the Gotti wheels on at that time and not sure the difference with the Fuchs.

I removed an aftermarket AC system but still have the evaporator in the smugglers box. Also removed the heater blower in the engine compartment when I did the SSIs.

My 74 with my 150lbs of meat onboard was 2440 with 1/2 tank. No tools, spare or AC but front cooler.

Large grain or dump scales are usually +/- 20lbs.

My 72 coupe weighs 2210 lbs with 1/2 tank. Many years taking weigh out, much cheaper than putting horsepower in.

My 73 is 2115 lbs. dry, and 2345 wet with 1/2 tank of gas and driver.

There are a lot of weight threads, but like everything on Pelican, they are hard to find with the normal search. I use Google for most searches.

Here are a couple of threads:

What does your car weigh?

How much do you weigh??? (2800#, 85)

Yeah, my understanding was the the stock 3.2's were 2750lbs. That is the starting number I am using to estimate the weight losses in my 84. Not sure if there is a 915 vs g50 difference (well I know there is, but I am unsure how much each weighs).

When I had my car corner balanced after I refurbished the suspension bushings and such it came in at 2,741 lbs.

That is a 1985 Carrera with full carpets and mats, 1/2 tank of fuel, and most important the full Griffiths AC system with 4 condensers, and COLD air conditioning so I can drive my car all summer in total comfort.

There is no denying that there is no substitute for "adding lightness" for the ultimate performance of any car. But I am no race car driver and I spend way more time driving the car on the road than on the track. I have done over 100 autocrosses and several track DEs days in my car. I do that to have fun and I can't even care any less about running with the fast boys in a track rat. AC is a wonderful thing in 85+ heat and we get a LOT of that.

This was before we got totally finished. I can't find the final corner balance picture.
