Can other providers of AFM's like VEMS or others plug and play with existing Motronic or do you need their specific ECU too for it all to work right
VEMS is not an AFM! VEMS is plug and play standalone ECU that works with stock Motronic wiring and sensors (you need to replace TPS with variable resistance one and intake temp sensor if you dicth AFM).
VEMS allows you to run engine without AFM or MAF, it uses internal MAP sensor.

This is VEMS 3.2 kit:

Sorry for the OT, I just clarified.

Since you appear to be another "tuner", i.e. indicative of your other posts on the Pelican Forum,
maybe you can answer the question raised by this quote;

If it's not the tweaking of AFRs that help improve performance, how then can chip tuning increase
performance even at middle range for a totally stock engine?

I presonally would not tune 911 engine any leaner than 12.7-12.8 because on 2valve engines I have found that this is what makes best power and also helps to cool the combustion (since its aircooled), cylinder head temps have shown it very well.

But power wise the difference from AFR is neglible, most power increase comes from ignition timing like on any engine

Why do you insist on taking a my words out of context? So pay attention and maybe you may learn something today. If you reread my post, AFRs between 12.5 and 13.4 have little minimal effect on power output, but I never said 911s only run between that range. Quite the contrary as they run anywhere from 15.0 to 11.0. When they run that rich or lean, the power output can be off by as much as 15 hp or more and response very poor. And these dyno charts only cover full throttle, not part throttle where people spend 95+% of the time where AFRs are no where near 13 and what is most important to most drivers:

But I have an unrelated question. After being banned for posting as a know it all condescending troll by the name of Lorenfb, why do you feel the need to come back posting under a fake name?

Thank you for your response and honesty! Many others who read that will have a better
understanding of tuning and will appreciate that when considering a chip for a stock engine, e.g. exhaust, CRs. Your knowledge when tuning 964 engines has been very helpful for the many 964
owners on the Rennlist Forum, and as such, highly regard your knowledge and follow your advice.
