Reverse Lockout Pawl spinning
i just replaced all my shifter bushings - what a difference! But now the little reverse lockout pawl just spins around. I must of knocked it loose(?) when removing the shifter housing. Is there are way to tighten this?

The pawl has a spring that keeps it from rotating.

The rivet must be removed to replace the spring. It's possible to remove the rivet, then replace the spring with a like rivet or equivalent (short bolt and lock nut).
That said, w/o the lock out pawl, the two springs in the factory shift housing that affect 5th/Rev should self-center the shift lever into the 3/4 shift plane when leaving 5th gear. It's safer to have the lockout pawl, but doable w/o it, but only if you're the only driver. YMMV. Sherwood |
