Another RS Clone... or a Sleeper?

I have been thinking of going the much trodden "RS Clone" path. I would need to get some Fuchs and the Carrera side script along with the correct front and rear bumpers.

The other thought is a sleeper. By removing the ducktail and putting a plain decklid with a 2.4 badge and keep the cookie cutters. Of course still backdating the rear bumper and keeping the front "S" spoiler.
What do ya think?

I'd choose Fuchs over Cookie Cutters any time. Regarding rear spoiler or not I must say that I quite like the spoilerless look. So how about Fuchs, but no spoiler?

PS: If you have a Carrera 3,2 engine in your car I don't think a 2,4 script would be appropriate. Not even to fool the enemy.

Go with the RS look. They may be a dime a dozen in California, but not in the midwest.

If I could find magnetic vinyl Carrera side scripts and keep the ducktail. I could switch it back and forth!

How true Jim! I have to go with the RS look espically for us Michiana Porsche guys. I have never seen a real one, or a clone for that matter, around here.

I like the carrera script but "if" I added it to mine it would look very similar to a couple other local RS bodied cars.
So I decided to stay plain Jane.

Went ahead and removed the rubber hood and duck tail hold downs for a little more slick street car attitude.

Without the script and rubber tie downs it still displays and drives with lots of long hood early 911 nostalgia.

some ideas....go RS clone and get creative with the colors. Try silver script and fuchs or maybe yellow. If you don't want to do the ducktail, do a 964 tail and keep the S front bumper-very clean look. I think you definitely need more wheel and tire so consider some custom 17" fuchs replicas or even Fikse's.

Shawn,

I have a 3.2 in my '73E....kinda the sleeper look with the factory S front spoiler.

I seem to always have guys ask what's in there? as a result of the "sound" the FI sings in a different key than Webers do...and those who know 911 engine sounds can pick it up in a second. At least that's what happens to me.....

Another variation would be to do the RS flares (not "SC") have a "S" front spoiler installed, I am assuming you have the late Carrera radiator style front fender oil cooler, Lowered with frt/rear swaybars, go with 7&8"x15" Fuchs with a Ducktail.......

An interesting addition that will give the car an even lower appearance is the additionoof late SC rocker panels.

Good luck & Happy Holidays !!

Right now the car has "SC" flares, a ducktail, and the "S" spoiler. It also has a '74 style RSR rear bumper and updated rear reflector.
I plan to backdate the rear of the car to the early look.
A good point that was made by Ryan is there aren't alot of RS clones in the midwest.
Kevin, I am thinking signal green... although I must admit the red is growing on me.

Go RS clone.
Depite the fact that there are 'alot' out there, it's rare that i see any, even here in Los Angeles. We might see ONE at a concours, or Porsche gathering, but it's been years since i've seen one on the street. It'll still turn heads real or clone.

If you go 'sleeper' and you're already backdating the rear, make it a narrow-hipped 911R with the cool tail lights! Excellence had a beautiful white one a couple months ago.

I would have to vote for the orange RS above though.

Strange... The poll is overwhelmingly leaning towards the sleeper while most of the posts lean towards the RS clone.
I think I am being persuaded to go the way of the clone!

Since you already have flared the car I would say to go with a RS look. I prefer a narrow body R look car but as long as you stay away from the white/blue scheme it should look pretty cool
