Wheel Question

Are the Fuchs alloys, based on the design of the back sides, by definition "hub- centric?"

The 7 x 16 and 8 x16 fuchs on my '71 are NOT hub-centric.

I'm not sure when Porsche started with the concentric hubs. Carreras?

In other words, are you saying that the studs alone keep the wheel concentric on the hub?

Correct. Here is a shot of the rear. There are no "lips" on the hubs, front or rear.

all the 16" wheels are hubcentric, not sure about the 15s but I can't recall seeing any non hubcentric ones but them I don't see wheels from the '64-66 either

The hubs themselves came in several versions
the .03 version introduced in 1967 is certainly hubcentric, and i'm pretty sure that v2 of the earlier .02 hub is also hubcentric

Well, I hate to dissagree, but the 16s on my car are not. Hard to see in this pic, but there is nothing touching the inside edge of the wheel. It just flat against the hub. Anyway the dust cap would hit the wheel first anyway.
In fact, if you look at the hub on the left in the post above, you will notice the dust cap is the largest diameter facing the wheel.

It' the hub that's missing the centering ring, I forgot about the back, your rear hub is certainly not hub centering, the '04 hub appears to be the same as the .06 used from '74 but maybe I'm missing something.

here's a stock '76 front hub, hub version .06 w/ hub centric ring that appears to be same as the .04 hub

and stock '76 rear hub, version .33, this hub was introduced for the MY74 911s

all the 16" Fuchs were hub centered

typical 16" Fuch this is a 9x16ET15, th wheel is centered on the inner edges of the mounts

compare to an early 7R 7x15ET49, same design in back

or an early RSR 11x15

That is what I was suspecting.

So, it seems that when Porsche introduced the 16"s they began the hub flanges? Or was it on the turbo, since 9 x 16" was the turbo's wheel?

all '71-.73 would have has the .04 front hub which is not ubcentric, the .06 hub which I showed above on my '76 and which is hub centric was used from '74 front and .33 rear also hub centric also from '74

the .04 hub may be mislabled in the hub pics above as it sure looks to have the centering ring

So that begs the question. Will the older 14" and 15" Fuchs, using the older style three prong cap, fit on the newer cars with the newer style hubs with the centering ring?

I found that the brakes usually cause issue when installing older/smalller rims on newer suspensions. This was the issue when we upgraded my brakes from '67 912 to '74 911. My old 14" fuchs didnt work any longer....

It's rare that owners of newer cars will want to fit the smaller/narrower older wheels.

The usual path is to replace 6x15 w/ 7x15 or 8x15 where I've never seen an issue other than w/ 930 brakes on narrower wheels, 7" or less in front.
