Rear Quarter Window Seal Orientation help!
Need some help here guys. I had these seals on then thought I had them backwards so I reinstalled them...now half way through I think I had them right.
Does the flag/tab that extends past the vertical portion of the seal sit on the top or the bottom? I noticed a little cutout on the seal for the latches which would mean the flag/tab goes towards the top...which is contrary to some photos I have seen online. Did the original cars (71) have this flag/tab on the seals from the factory? Is this right? ![]() ![]() And a photo of the car for fun: ![]() |

I have a similar question. I just redid mine and have those tabs on top.... Once I put in the windows they want to stay out. It take a lot or pressure to push them into the closed position. So my questions are....
Like OP, which way do these window seals go in? How hard should it be to close the windows? If it should not be hard, how do you adjust that tension?

Ok, from what I can tell the early cars didn't have a flag/tab and I think the seal is wrong in my photos. The seal should be installed with the flag/tab on the top and either cut off or tucked away. This would align a small cut out in the seal with the latch mount on the rear of the window and it seems the seal fits better with zero wrinkling on the edges.
Anyone confirm? |
