SC: 1 vs 2 multiple pole connector

The car in question is an 82 UK (RHD) delivered SC. It was bought w/o drive train.

In California a donor SC engine and transmission were sourced.

The California SC engine has two multiple pole connectors. However the car has only one receiver, in the left side of the engine bay (near the CDI panel).

On another California SC (81) I saw that the other connector is near the fire wall (see first picture).

Questions:

1. what is this harness for?
2. can the engine run w/o hooking up this harness or does the car need another wire harness?

If not mistaken and memory serves me right, the other connector is for the Computer box under the front passenger seat.

Thanks for the pointer. I will check on both cars tomorrow.

Any idea when that box was introduced? On a 2.7 engine that I have as a spare the plug is not present either. In other words was that box introduced somewhere during the SC production, or US only?

The 1980 to 1983 US cars have a "Jetronic" Lambda 02 system for pollution control.
Smaller intake ports, smaller runners, lower compression and less horsepower than the European 3.0 engines for those years.
They will run richer with the entire system removed.

Since the receiving (UK / RHD) car doesn't have the socket near the firewall but the engine wiring harness does have the plug what is the easiest solution?

It is a seperate harness from the normal engine harness. You could remove it or just leave it unplugged in place.
Removal would look better.

I hope a last question before it runs:

1. the CDI box is working (peeping) and the plugs have spark
2. (of course) the engine turns around

However it doesn't do anything like running. Probably it's missing fuel? (this is a "new" car to me, I am more used to 356 /912 / early carburetored 911).

How to test if it gets fuel and are there other (relays, etc. ?) that could be tested to make sure everything is in working condition and the car should run?

Change the engine setup so it uses non-lambda parts. The lambda cars use the lambda system for fuel enrichment.

Mine was unpluged when I first got my car. Ran fine around town, but went really lean over part throttle.
