Pelican Parts Engine Book Delayed...

Okay, I know a lot of you have been anticipating the new engine book. Due to problems with layout, the book has been delayed. The good news is that I have now been able to incorporate the little tidbits of priceless info that I learned at Bruce's/Jerry's rebuilding class last week.

Some examples include:

- Don't pinch alternator harness when installing fan air guide - may cause electrical fire.
- Check crankshaft thrust bearing - may wear out too much if clutch is misaligned and placing an axial load on the crankshaft
- Deburr edge of #8 bearing - may cause seal to tear
- Cupcake baking tray - useful for holding hardware during disassembly
- The actual difference between black and brown chain ramps is the height at which they support the chain

And about 80+ more 'easter eggs.'

The book is due to head to the printer no later than Jan 24th. In the past it's been a 3-month turn around from that date.

I originally thought that this book would take me about 300-400 hours to complete. (101 projects probably took about 1000 hours or so. I think I'm logged in at about 2300 hours on this engine book!

However, if you thought that the 101 Projects book was good, wait until you see the finished product here. 101 is a good overview with an excellent color layout. This engine book dives right into the dirty details - combined with the same colorful layout.

Remember to buy the book from Pelican. Not only will it be signed by me, but the package will include the bonus CD-ROM with exclusive information that I did not have time or space to include in the printed book...

I'm looking forward to your book Wayne but I think the delays are worth it for the extra value/quality.

It's fine with me, I hopefully won't need it this next year. But I do look foward to reading it.

The preview copy has kept me busy. No real plans to do a rebuild but I have started listing out different options just for fun. Look forward to the finished book late spring.

I'd rather have a few minor delays in the book to get these updates. I'd suspect Bruce's class would provide several tips. I hope I never need the book but I plan on buying it just to read. My g'friend thinks this is extremely abnormal behavior. Of course she thinks it makes sense to bring home 10-15 coats and MAYBE keep 1.
Happy Christmas to all Pelicanheads
