Thanks to Tom; I figured out where my car is from: C00; Germany!

Makes sense for the car' history: was made for Germany, but imported by a private dealer to the US.

I guess Porsche doesn't always put the German country code for domestic cars..

Hey guys...I'm confused. ROW cars, as previously stated, don't have any country code e.g. ROW - Rest of World..

Would you mind explaining to me, and others, how you came about thinking that your cars country code of 116, and including COO, was somehow a dealer or a Country e.g. Germany?... Why I ask is that your VIN clearly states that it is a ROW car that was built in Stuttgart.

After owning three 911's, since 1980, I would really be interested in the info you are referencing your info from.

I'm still on the fence about some of these codes. There used to be a distributor code that went along with the dealer code. You could argue that it was a sort of country code, in the sense that most countries probably had just one importer or distributor. That may not have been the case in all countries.

Being that the distributor code was usually paired with the dealer code, my assumption would have been that the 114 was the distributor code in this case, not the 116.

I'm not sure either about the distributor code, but from the paper Tom gave me, it clearly states that my car is for the German market (C00).

Probably for some cars (like mine) the country code wasn't specified, being "ROW". However still made for a dedicated country. I speculate based on the fact that the country code list includes different countries inside "ROW" with their own code. ex: C05 France, C07 Italy. But there are both within "ROW".

There were minor differences in the specs for France and Italy. The things that come to mind have to do with lighting. Some of this may also revolve around the language used for the manuals and some of the labeling.

The other thing that the 114 2351 might represent is the production sequence number. I researched all of this a long time ago and I just can't remember the details.

The 116 001 may relate to "Fahrg Nr." which I think translates to chassis number. This may relate to the sales order code for a 911 targa. I think the sales order number for a targa was 911640.

Hi...What was the source of the paper/info that 'Tom' gave to you? I'm genuienly just interested in 'Tom's info as I never knew that the 'Rest of (the) World cars had any sort of country of destination code, let alone dealer code, other than on the paper work that is stuck on a side window of all new cars. You have just stated, "I speculate" - "based on the fact?" - "that the country code list include countries inside ROW"

I'm looking forward to finding out to where 'Tom' obtained his info from.

Here a site with all the codes. The Code C.. are more a specific equipment code required for a particular country, "Ausstattung" being equipment. From the list you can see that even California had its own code C03...anyway enjoy the list

Typically the "C" codes are on the equipment sticker under the front hood. It will be on the Lower part of the sticker with the rest of the equipment. As you can see here the C00 is located with the equipment.

Thanks Tom...So do you mean that a Porsche service department, when running a PIWIS diagnostic test on 911's that have a DMC - ECU, can provide the country and dealership codes?

Hi Tom...Interesting. The next time I have the car into the Porsche shop that I use here in Vancouver - Weissach's - I'm going to ask them to have a look into my DME/ECU to see what codes that it has within it.
