Starter cross-reference part number

In a recent thread by the man of steel, I believe, the question came up of using parts other than original for things like starters and alternators (AC Delco comes to mind) While the responses on this board varied, I thought it would be okay in my case (not concourse, just fun...). In the process of getting my car out of it's many boxes and getting it running again, I cooked an already marginal starter. Found a rebuilt for $81.00 including an $18.00 core at my local NAPA. Opened the box and guess what was stamped on the case? Bosch.
So, for anyone who's interested, the .8Kw bosch starter is NAPA part #44-4257
