Spider-webbing on case, casting artifact, or should I be really sad?
Tearing down my 82 SC engine today, I found something I haven't noticed before (it was hidden under 21 years worth of gunk): Small spider webbing on the case, in several places. Some places it is apparent that it is sticking up from the case, others it is harder to tell.
Fan support near distributor, and feels like it is higher than the case: ![]() This is under the #1 spigot, it's also under #2, but less of it. ![]() Top of the case, right side, near the where it turns down, it is also on the other side. ![]() I figure there are 2 posibilities, it is leftover from the casting process, and all aluminum cased 911 engines have them, or my case is shot. Anyone seen this before? Thanks, Tom |
