Yet another 3.2 Start question
My 3.2 has started to do something very peculiar in the no-start department. I haven't found any references to it searching here, but what happens is I turn the key and absolutely nothing happens. No Crank, no clicks nothing, then I can turn the key back and turn it again and it'll fire right up.
I've replaced the DME relay and no difference occurs, has anyone seen this? thanks!

My '88 has done the exact same thing about 6 times in the last few months. Intermittent, so haven't been able to track it down. Cleaned the terminals on the starter yesterday & I'll see if that does any good. Would hate to think it's a starter problem. Maybe ignition switch going bad.... who knows

Battery Voltage checks out okay? Have you checked the ground from the gear box to the chassis?

Sounds like ignition switch to me. Unscrew the electrical part of the switch ( no easy task). Put a screwdriver in the slot and turn it (make sure you're in neutral). If it starts consistently check the tab on the mechanical side. sometimes they bend, crack, etc. which will prevent it from turning the electrical part far enough to make contact.

Thanks I'll check those things, as I said it only does it once, then the next time you turn the switch it'll start right up. I replaced the ignition maybe 10 years ago (I remember having to rekey the car) and it's not driven enough for it to really wear out... It's almost like the thing that prevents you from starting it twice is engaged

Try spraying some brakleen in the key slot followed by some spray lube.
