Montauk, very cool that you were able to drive the gauges with the ecu. I thought about that but I didn’t want to mess with figuring it out. I’m still using the factory style sensors and the modern sensors keeping the systems separate. Would have been smarter to do what you did.
On the positive side, I finished building my “motorsports grade” wiring harness. Took time to properly plan and route. I understand why people charge what they charge for these now. ![]()

Nice work. I bought the pre-made flying harnesses.

A big oops by me. I would have sworn that I had set my ECU to use throttle position and not MAP. Well, I didn't. I was looking into a setting that Haltech has for "MAP Prediction/Fuel Film Enable" when I saw that I had left "Fuel Load Type" set for MAP. So that's nearly 150 miles running based on MAP. The only problem I had was odd behavior at low speeds particularly starting from a dead stop. I changed to TPS and drove it about 15 miles with no low speed problems. But I did notice that deceleration could be a bit too quick. More settings to tweak.

^^^^ Looks like PMO throttle using the Weber style mandifolds...
We have used AEM a lot in the past,, but find the ECU's difficult to source from time to time. Engine looks nice, keep us posted about the first start! Cheers

Hey just an FYI. I had significant issues getting my AEM ECU to drive a twin spark set up. Single spark on and other car was OK. In the end we junked it and went Haltech which we were immediately able to tune. It was a while ago and I can’t recall the exact AEM ECU model but it was supposed to be able to do the job. I’m only telling you this in case you have similar issues as I wasted a lot of time trying to resolve the unresolvable. All the best.

I have heard the horror stories and did my re4search . This particular system has 20 dyno hrs on it and should be fine (i hope). I have gotten in touch with Andrew at Rasant and his boss now at G2 Motorsports. Although they cant provide support for the earlier systems , they haver been very helpfull. Fingers crossed !! |

Oooh. I like that idea. Do you have a build thread here or some pics and specs you can share on your COP and Coil-Near-Plugs? I just finished dual COP on current car - and it runs fine. But I like your idea of keeping the lower coils further away from the headers. That's a hot little area down there. Thx, Patrick

You can fabricate heat shields with some aluminum and line them with heat shield insulation to keep the COPs less heat soaked... Just make sure that they still allow airflow...

Ours look somewhat similar. Camera angle may distort the perspective, but it seems headers and COPs are closer than they appear. These are 1-5/8" Patrick Motorsports headers with eBay's finest $15.00 header wrap, lol !

I cant claim credit for it. Clewett had all the mounts. Simple bolt on.

You guys with lower COP's, are you using a bracket to secure them in? I'm converting my 993 to COP and need to figure out a bracket (stock plastic valve covers).

I'm not using brackets , mine just clip on with no issues , needing effort to pull them off..

I was worried about them falling out and landing on a hot header which is why I went with CNP for the bottom. I agree the COP's fit firm but thats cold and not bouncing around a bumpy autocross. Didnt want to take a chance.
