Electrical: Rear Running Lights on all the time - Ign on
I have a small electrical issue:
Just replaced the front fuse box with Classic Retrofit. All electrical appears to be working fine except the rear tail lights & brake lights. The rear tail lights are on anytime the ignition switch is on. This only affects the rear lights and the fronts work correctly when the light switch is pulled. The brake lights are not working at all but since I have just completed a major project, I need to double check the pedal switch is connected (will do that tonight). Can anyone tell me the "wire color" of the rear tail lights? Which fuse terminal are the rear tail lights supposed to be connected to? Thanks in advance! |

If it is the dual filament brake light lamp running lights that are on,
Grey/red fuse 3, grey/black fuse 4. If side market lights then black/white fuse 9

Thanks Dennis,
This is the rear, dual filament, running lights/brake lights. I'm assuming that you are referring to the 2nd block of fuses on the right side of the fuse box. And, also referring to the lower wires. Judging by my photos, it looks like I am off one (i.e., fuse 4 & 5). Unfortunately, my "before" photos are almost useless and I wish I had done a better job. Old Fuse Box: ![]() New Fuse Box:

Porsche made a right old mess of fuse numbers.
The large numbers on our panel correspond the to numbers Porsche printed inside your plastic lid. The fuse numbers Dennis refers to are how they are numbered on the Porsche wiring diagrams, number 1 being on the right - at the front of the car. If you look closely on our panel we have those numbers by each fuse e.g. FU1, FU2, FU3 etc.

I can see that your headlamp dip and main are reversed at the bottom.
Does this help?

Johnny,
I'm not sure if you are the one that pointed out the headlights being reversed on my other thread. However, I do know that they are working properly and the blue light goes on when the high beams are on. Does this mean that they could possibly be reversed on the switch? My goal would be to get it right as much as possible so that I when problems arise (like my brake lights), I only have to deal with one problem. Thanks! |

Yes, I pointed that out. If it works correctly, think it is more likely that the wires are wrong at the socket where it plugs onto the back of the headlamp.
Has your car ever had the fenders taken off? if so, the wires do have to come out of the socket to do that and could have been swapped.
