About to join the 3.6 club

Getting there slowly.

Engine is build, 964 bottom end, 964 cylinders, 993 heads, aggressive cam, MAF. Will be using headers, 2 * 100cpi cats and my GT3 style muffler I already had on the 3.2.

Second oil cooler is installed, shop should get the engine in the next few days.

And the TÜV will be O.K. with that? Sounds like a nightmare to get this legalized in Germany.

Will be no big deal Ingo. My other mods (996 brake , exhaust, air filter) are all legal already.

Be very careful about "aggressive" cams in factory OEM intake systems as single-throttle intakes are quite unforgiving with cams that have lobe centers narrower than 113 degrees.

What are your recommends/options at this point regarding 3.6 intake systems?

No kidding. I run an aggressive cam in my 3.6. My race class requires the stock intake and the throttle response and off idle characteristics suck big time! I have no choice but I would go to an ITB setup in a heartbeat if I could.

Little by little. Still needs to do some mapping done as it does not idle to well yet. But it comes of idle relative good and pulls strong from there

Finally car is back in my garage. Things went a little different route.

I was not happy with the 3.6l conversion using the Schrick 3.35mm camshaft. Power delivery was phenomenal but driving it in town was no fun. No torque below 2.000 rpm. As said before by others, the stock intake and an aggressive cam don't go together well. Actually it was better than expected but it made the car very aggressive, good for the track, not so good for the rest.

So the decision was to pull the motor again and build a 3.8l with Schrick 2.1mm. Now I have an engine where you can lazily accelerate in 5th gear at 2.000 rpm.

It needs now some brake-in and then a fine tune on the dyno, in 6 weeks it will see its first track.

While in there, I completed the Elephant Racing suspension with new ER shocks and 29mm TBs in the rear. Rear brakes are now also 996 as the front were 996 already some time ago.

Re: Front Oil Coolers........Do you have any photos of the 2nd Oil Cooler (Front Left Driver's side) Hose connections you could share with us?

You have both Front Coolers mounted upright, and am wondering about the M30 Hose ends fittings. It seems to be very tight for the hoses up there behind the headlight bucket.

Two more question also please: what type fuel pressure regulator are you using?
Here's the hard one, what fuel pressure do you think occurs at 5th gear WOT?

Beautiful looking setup and glad to hear that you made those tweaks regarding the cam.

I can probably take some pictures over the weekend.

Question on the fuel pressure at WOT I will be only be able to answer after being on the dyno which is certainly a few weeks out. The pressure regulator itself can be seen left hand upper corner.
