I realize that, but its just funny as Porsche parts are a joke and we all pretty much know that. I got lambasted when I thought Braid wheels were a joke in regards to price. Its all relative I guess.

So what's the current "going rate" to have a professional shop rebuild an old WUR to factory specs? I would have to weigh that cost against this new approach.

The point is this can be programed. One of the many benefits is the throttle response, as it will lower the control pressure to richen the fuel mixture so you wont go lean at higher engine reves. If you modify your engine you can program the unit to match the specs you desire.

Here is a link for a rebuilt 82 sc WUR. $420.00 + 300 core charge

I'm very interested as my car basically runs good, but just seems like something is a bit off- still need to chase a few suspected vacuum leaks.

Do you have any photos of it mounted and where you placed the controller?

Be interested to hear a subjective opinion by a purchaser if throttle response can be dramatically improved. Lack thereof is my biggest beef. I know it is theoretically possible but want a seat of the pants review.

Yes I'll put up a photo. It fits exactly where the WUR was.

This is pretty cool. But I've stripped the whole lambda system off my CIS. I guess for me it'd be almost like plugging a laptop up to a carburetor.. If a person needed to maintain the lambda for smog checks and such I can see it realy coming in handy then.

Caution: Bought a product from these guys a few years ago. Speed controller for an a/c fan. Was complete rubbish. Couldn't get any help from them after repeated tries. I would have no faith in their ability to supply any customer service, or a reputable product. Hope you have better luck.

I've never tried an aftermarket WUR/Idle valve with CIS, in each case I've wither kept the CIS in place and found working replacements in my box of spares, or converted over to Megasquirt/Adaptronic and used a ford idle valve. The ford idle stepper valved work great with aftermarket ECUs, can they not be adapted to work well with CIS?

Under $ 250 no core charge - 1983 SC.

Yes - how are you determining the right AFR through the rpm range? Do you have an AFR gauge installed off of a wideband sensor or do you plan to go to a dyno to set it up?

Does it actually allow you to change the control pressure based on RPM?

I do see that it has its own temp sensors which should be more accurate than the heater that the original has.

Seriously? They're still around? There's at least half a dozen folks on the 930 forum who took unusable/non-working units off their cars..

Including one guy who noticed his sprayed gasoline everywhere inside the case - when received new. I wouldn't fit one without checking it first.

I guess if you wait long enough, or change the market slightly, the internet serves up a new market of folks who've never heard of you to step up and give you money.

Yes, he does seem that way - right up until he volunteers that given that his unit clearly doesn't work acceptably despite his suggestions to fix what he called "ringing" (the RPM sensor said my 930 idled at 1800 and that I hit 8000 RPM during a leisurely commute to work) and tells you to send it back for a free upgrade to the latest revision they're just finishing up.

And then you'll never hear from him again. No replacement unit. No repaired unit. No refund. No replies to the next 30 emails and 50 phone calls.

8 years later, I'm still out $500 - for a unit that showed some promise, but never delivered what it was supposed to - because with the sensor issue, it'd have needed to have been mappable to 15,000 RPM, and it wasn't...

Sorry to hear that. When was the last time you tried to contact Steve? He replies to my emails the same day. My laptop wouldn't load the software (win 10) He sent me a Ibm lap top with the soft ware loaded for 100 dollars. They have improved the original with a frequency valve instead of a stepper motor.
Do want me to contact him and see if he'll make things right for you? I'm using it on a 82sc not a turbo so it's a different application.
If you used paypal or a credit card you should've been able to get a refund.

Same experience I had.
