Which models/years offered the polished Fuchs ?

Which years/cars had the anodized wheels?
What about the fully polished chrome bling ones?

Wait, I may have mixed up the words anodized and polished.
What I meant was the "Hot Wheels" look with the "metal" looking petals.
The popular style of Fuchs that are not all black, like on my '86 3.2

What models/year were non-all-black offered?

To the best of my knowledge, polished were never offered by Porsche.

Porsche never offered highly polished wheels. Wheels that had the entire center painted started to appear in 1973.

Yup, no polished or chrome from the factory. All Fuchs were anodized, painted centers were the only choice from '78 on.

Yes polishing is something we do. Have to say it's an American thing. I have a mint set of anodized Fuchs and even at there cleanest they look nothing like polished.

So, in general, the "metal petal" style is from 1972 and before?
Based on a quick search of Google Images, it seems 1975 is when all black Fuchs started to appear.

Basically, I am asking, when you see this, what year is can it be from?

My 930 came from the dealer (Santa Barbara) with polished lips and petals. The background was colored matched Peru Red. Pretty sure some dealers were offering this as a dealer option, then farming the work out.
Hard to explain to a concours judge.

The "general" answer to your question in post 8 is 1968 to 1977.

Fuchs became available in 1967. That first year, they were all anodized, no paint. They started painting the background in 1968. Painted centers began with the 1973 Carrera RS, in black, green, red and blue. From there, it gets more complicated. Most Fuchs from 1974 to 1977 were like the ones in your picture above. Painted centers were used on certain models. For example, the 1974 Carrera RS 3.0 usually had wheels with black centers or gold centers. All turbos had black centers. By 1978, black centers were the only finish. In later years, a few other painted colors were available for certain models, or with certain option codes.

By now, any 911 can have different wheels than it was born with. There are probably more 911s with Fuchs on them now than when they were built.

Java dog is correct, by now lots have been changed. Mine were born with black centers, but I had them refinished the older style when I had them re-anodized.

Just to clarify, 100% chromed Fuchs like this.
Were these ever a factory option?

Chrome OR full polish, no. BTW chroming is not considered a good thing....looks like ass when it starts to flake and the word is that the process weakens the alloy....

I'm not a fan of the chrome. Was just curious.

Hard to tell in pics as the alloy takes a good bright shine. Some owners will clear coat them as they are too lazy to keep them up with polish. But then the clear can start to peel....

When I first bought a full polished set, they were blinding....

My '76 is mostly original (other than a repaint many years ago). These are the original 15" Fuchs wheels from 1976 after 41 years.....

to further clarify, on billh1963's car above, the silver is anodized and the black is painted.

On the "bling" scale, it'd be chrome plated > polished aluminum > anodized aluminum > RS finish "matte" anodized aluminum

"Painfully original" was in my email notification on billh's post.....I like that better than the tired old line "original and correct". God I hate that term, the 356 Concours Weenies use that all the time.....

One side comment...The 4.5X15, first year (1967), Fuchs were indeed painted just differently the '68 and on. Here's a shot of the one year only Fuchs.

I have owned Porsches since 1973 and have never seen the paint scheme depicted above. I too have never cared for the polished or chrome Fuchs wheels. Chrome wheels belong on a muscle car, not a Porsche. But hey, I am old so my taste is "aged".

Guess you haven't seen any 67s. That is indeed the paint scheme on the 67 fuchs.
Factory never had shiny wheels, just anodized on the silver parts.
