I really liked how quiet the orange car was so I've decided to use the same process with the new car for the interior.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1498457504.jpg

3.8 Motor is done, big thanks to Mark Kinninger at Black Forest Automotive for building this monster, hoping for 330hp at the wheels! Mark has been a guiding force the whole way, his decades of experience and ability to offer great suggestions and willingness to talk anytime I had a question regarding the direction of the build really set me at ease.
Also wanted to give a shout out for Efren (Blackbyrd) for supplying the 3.6 case, crank and a lot of the miscellaneous parts, which are getting harder and harder to find now a days. Finally got the tank ready to be welded and the hole in the hood roughed in, the chamfer needs a little smoothing out. I had bought an rsr style front strut brace but did not like the way it was going to mount, drill some holes in the bar itself and just bolt it to strut tower mounts that are welded to the chassis. So we redid it with some heim joints, however the heims are a little larger so we have to drill the mounts for a larger bolt and waiting for the spacers to come in. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500475644.jpg |
Looking good!

What is the interior coating used? it looks like tinted stone guard. Just wondering if you used some type of sound control material in addition to the second skin.
|
Dave, why did you go with clear cadmium for the handbrake base and pedal cluster hardware?

jpnovak, Tintable Raptor by UPOL Shaun, I was experimenting! Once I got the suspension pieces from Ira at Tarett that were stainless and the other pieces from Clint @ Rebel Racing and they were pewter-ish I thought that the clear would stay in the same range of color as opposed to the yellow zinc or cad. I actually had done a bunch in zinc but had them redone in clear cad. I really like the way the color goes with the blue, BUT the pieces have a tendency to stain easily and it seems like once they get dirty they will not entirely cleanup  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500526804.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500526804.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500526804.jpg |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1498427699.jpg Did I miss a few posts? Or did you just slide the Mexico Blue (or maybe Miami Blue) paint color decision quietly in to this thread? Anyway, it looks great! |

Clear cadmium is tough to do right, it takes special prep and the right plater to get it correct. Even mine I'll have things redone now and again. It's extra work (yellow too) for me, but worth it in the end. I've never experienced staining or heard back from customers so I think the prep pays off in addition to the aesthetics. Wish zinc wasn't blue these days. Car and motor are looking fantastic, excellent execution as always! |
I'm getting ready to do my front trunk area so thanks .

Sport seats ( repro ) just refinished in blue pepita, remembered at the last minute to have the seat heaters installed that were destined for the orange car

What heat exchangers are those?
|
Can't believe how fast your moving on this build. Great job Dave.
|
That will be beautiful when finished!
We just had an RSR clone in with those B&B exchangers. The right side cooks the tank oil lines and was actually touching the metal portion of the one of the lines. We had to move that line and add a heat shield for the large rubber tank line. We won't be using those on any of our builds. ;) |

911 SLANT thank you Brian, thanks for the heads up, I just got one of your rsr mufflers from our host to go with the headers. you were my first choice but after confirming with you on size and discussing with my engine builder I needed larger diameter than what you were offering. |

I need new bolts and need to make up some spacers to get these to work with these hubs
