Since you're putting AC in this one, it will probably make sense to do some thermal control on the interior...The seatbelt panel and rear firewall from top to seat area get very hot...The best way to keep AC efficiency up is to keep heat out...These are some thermal shots of my car while it was sitting at idle for about 20 minutes (note that the photos were taken about ten minutes apart, so the left side looks much cooler than it would, also the rear was covered in carpet and sound deadening):

Tremelune, main reason on no second cooler in the fender being the ac system from classic retro fit goes in the other fender. No time to make up a rock deflector yet, after monterey will address alot of things that I just dont have time for at the moment. The ship has sailed on the reinforcements for coil overs. I have the second skin products on the interior rear firewall to keep out heat and MLV over that. The seat belt panels will not be used so the carpet will be going right on the metal, I do not trust it staying put over the insulating layer or the layer itself coming apart and sagging down. |
Wow, that interior looks fantastic! And the fresh air intake grill will look pretty cool, I think, when you've got the frunk lid on.

So sikk, you make it look sooo easy!!

Damn dude, killing it. Just when I thought you outdid yourself with orange, did it again. Looking forward to seeing this in person.

Trent, tdw28210, came by for a minute to see progress on the car. He was in San Diego for some meetings all the way from North Carolina, great to put a face to a name. Can't see much progress but there has been quite a bit.

Your level of detail is amazing. Where do I find the second skin material to keep the heat from the engine compartment minimized?
Also did you order a new dashboard and if so from where? I'm slowly fixing up a daily, nothing as amazing as what you're doing. |

thank you, link below is to second skin, may have to copy and paste Vehicle Sound Deadening Materials for Noise Reduction, and Thermal Insulation. Call 800 679-8511. | Second Skin Audio, Made in the USA. just had the old dash redone |
Beautiful work!
Curious as to why you appear to have left the p/v w/ 930 brakes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502346501.jpg |
Dave,
I like everything about this car. I wish I could buy it. I have always thought if I get to build something like this I would upholster the gauge area with the same fabric as the seat insert. I think you have a good eye for what works and what doesn't. What do you think about that idea? Would the hounds tooth be too busy around the gauges? Quote:

Singer did something similar with the dash...I think it looks quite busy:

Trem, I agree. Those are too busy. I think it could be pulled off with a larger plaid and some strategic cutting.
And here's evidence of the aforementioned visit. Despite being super busy, Dave was a great host. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1502382672.jpg |

I was just wanting to tie a little bit of the dash in and thought the blue area around the gauges would look cool in a matching fabric. I guess I'll have to give it a shot when I do my project. |

Picked up some parts from Dave this past Thurs and peeked at this blue devil while I was there. So CLEANNNNN and amazing as to almost be depressing for those of us who want, but can't yet afford. Kudos to Dave and his shops, vendors, partners, etc. on what appears to be another flawless build. Extra props to Dave for his willingness to share part numbers, his sources, etc.
I hope to see the finished product around town at some point. |

Well just got back from a full week at Monterey car week, I am exhausted but ecstatic and can't wait until next year! Unfortunately we did not have the car running up there, we had some problems with ecu and not enough time to get up with Rasant Performance for diagnostic sorting. I should not say problems, being a new system we were not familiar with and running short on time priority came down to getting car looking good and worry about engine package after we returned.
As it was we worked until 6pm Monday the 14th and drove through the night to reach Carmel by the Sea at 3:30am and get the car placed for Concours on the Avenue Tuesday, had enough time to park the truck and trailer and jump in the back seat for a 1 hour nap and back up to mingle. Fantastic event met a lot of new people and saw alot of old friends. After the event there were parties everywhere and it was a very late nite by the time we got home in downtown Monterey. Next day was the McCall's Motorworks Revival hosted by the ever classy impresario Gordon McCall and his team at McCall Events. But before heading there we went by RM Sothebys for a preview of the auction and what fabulous cars, my fav was the 993 rs , clubsport, until that is I found a 993 cup car that was looking like a factory GT2! This was the 26th year for the event that has the coolest most eclectic selection of motorized madness you can imagine. We are talking old planes ie P-51 Mustang just off restoration, B24 Mitchell bomber, DC-3 and then throw in Corporate jet aircraft ranging from Gulfstream's G600 where incidentally I ran into Reggie Jackson, to two of Citations latest offereing to Cirrus aviations small craft even a small rotorcraft that I did not get a look at who manufactured it. Beautiful cars and motorcycles excellent food, wine and spirits, dancing with live music this event is hard to top and definitely one of my favorite stops of the week if not the rest of the year. link here https://mccallevents.com Thursday was a chance to get over to Baja Cantina and catch up with friends from the 3 Pedal Posse and Der Fazination have some good food and drink and then head over to the Porsche Zentrum and Quail event that was being set up for Friday. Lots of new friends made here. After leaving there we took the riv blue to Corral di Tierra country club to stage the car for the following days Werks Reunion. So as you know the car was not running so I enlisted members of the 3 Pedal Posse to help push the car onto the fairway, but in the end Rick from the country club was able to tow us out! After that it was back into Monterey and shower change for the nite. We ended up staying with a friend, Anthony Buich, that owns The Bull and Bear Whiskey bar located at 479 Alvarado in downtown Monterey. Our accomadations were in his apartment over the bar that draws in a lot of people that are in town for carweek, so to say that it was a wild and crazy week was probably an understatement and was really like being in Vegas for a week long bachelor party I do not think we ever made it to bed before 3:30am all week. Friday was Werks Reunion at their new beautiful venue and it was more mingling with old friends and as always meeting lots of new friends. I will say this the level of competition in my class was really elevated from last year, especially seeing my fellow San Diegan friend Nick Psyllos and beautiful wife Adele there with there immaculate tangerine 2.5l twin plug ST and Marc Zurlinden and his wife and kids there with the new Grey ST with a monster engine package sporting GT3 crank, titanium rods, and efi itb. after the judging was over we came back to see a corporate sponsor award on the Riv Blue RSR and nick securing 2nd place the Martini livery RSR getting a nice 3rd place aand Marc getting a Corporate award. But we could not find the winner of our class, as he was in another area. Turns out Jason Smith was out from Iowa with his fresh Carrera hot rod and I had seen the car earlier in the week at concours on the avenue and what a beauty in Albert blue with red leather sport seats. Well he ended up winning the division and it could not have went to a nicer guy, congrats to all the winners. I want to give Cobb Tuning from Austin Texas, a big thank you as they are the ones that chose my car as the best in there opinion from the awesome lineup of all cars that were there being judged. Thank you Cobb Tuning!! check them out at https://www.cobbtuning.com and on instagram at cobbtuning. After loading up we headed to Pebble beach and a birthday party and a mini R Gruppe meet there, after which more debauchery in Monterey proper! Saturday was one of the best, although how do you judge a better day than the day before when they are all amazing and different all filled with amazing people and unbelievable cars. Anyway the Gooding auction was today and really enjoyed that then down to pebble and see the Ferrari guys that were celebrating 70 years of ferrari. These guys bring it with there cars and man what cars from GTO to La Ferrari to everything in between. Ran into Magnus down on the lawn talked for a bit got another snap with him then off to another party. Back to town with a group of new friends for dinner, more drinks before running into my mates from across the pond that do Car Throttle out of the UK and were in town for car week. Sunday we were completely spent and elected to trailer home as it is a ways. Anyway enjoy the pics and see you next year in Monterey!!!!!! here are some from tuesday and our place on the second floor above the restaurant with my buddy that trailered his fresh resto 1973 E coupe up tucked away under cover and was lucky enough to hand sell it for $200K by the end of the week. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503371646.jpg |
