Help 964 G50 & 3.6 swap into SC question

I've been reading many of the threads on these swaps and have a question.

My car is a 1980 Sc and I have converted it to coil overs. I have a donor 1990 934 with the 3.6 and G50. My plan is to cut the torsion housing to make it fit but my question is the shifter. Can you use the 915 shifter and mod the shift rod to work with the G50? could you use a Carerra G50 shifter and rod with the 964 G50?

Any ideas and help are greatly appreciated.

You can use a G50 shifter assembly
But . . . .
You'll have to modify the tunnel hump for transmission clearance
and you'll have to make a junction to mate the shift rod to the selector shaft.
I've done a few and the selector shaft on the transmission is the determining factor (shift linkage securing bolt horizontal or vertical)
. . . . and obviously a G50 pedal box with clutch master cylinder, hard lines, slave cylinder, custom axles custom transmission mount . . . . but I'm sure that's all been covered in posts ....

Good luck !

Thanks for the reply, Is it possible to use the 964 pedal assembly or better to find a carerra unit?

964 is a completely different chassis. Pedal components cannot be retrofitted to G series cars.
Carrera G-50 pedal box only.

A 3.2 G50 shifter housing is needed.

If you're crafty with power tools and welder you can add a clutch master cylinder to an early pedal box. Otherwise a G50 pedal box should be on the shopping list.

No way.

The pivot for each transmission is 180deg apposed.

If you use (can) a 915 shifter 1st will be located where 2nd is, everything shall be reversed.

Well, 1st would wound up in forth or something like that. Everything would be reversed up will be down, left be right....

The 915 shifter also has spring loaded positions for reverse and fifth. The G50 shifter has nothing like that, everything is in the gearbox.

i have a 1976 912E with a 3.2 turbo putting over 700hp to the wheels and it has a 993 C2 6 speed. it had to have a late carrera g50 pedal assembly installed as well as the shifter assembly from the 993. i did not do the conversion so all i have to go by is what i see.
and from my own experience working on my 964 shifter and many 915 shifters, i don't see how a 915 could be made to replicate the g50 from the 964
i'm no expert though, just my 2 cents
