G50 Short Shift Kit

Please short answer: Is there a short shift kit for a G50? I thought I got one from our host but its for a 915 transmission. I've searched Wevo and Rennline and our host (that is sending me the Wevo transmission coupler) but can't seem to find anything on a G50 short shifter. That doesn't really surprise me since I have been told for 20 plus years that there isn't a short shift kit for a G50. Any ideas if it's the mythical unicorn of shifters? Thanks

Yep, that's the one. I have their Classic Finish shifter in my '87 and it's fantastic! It has the precision of a rifle bolt and looks like it could be stock.

Next upgrade maybe. I was lead to believe there was a far less costly upgrade that didn't mean changing out the entire shifter. Thanks guys.

It's costly but it really is worth it. I think it's one of those upgrades from which you reap the benefits with every single shift.

JWest Engineering makes the Rennshifter for G50. Reduces throw by 25%. I have it in my car, and it is smooth as silk. It's another great option. RennShift G50 Shifter - JWest Engineering

I have had the JWest G50 short shift kit installed in my 88 for a few years now. Very pleased with the operation and have had zero problems. Installed it myself so anybody should be able to.

There is an actual factory short shift option. It's the Club Sport shifter. I got one years ago, hoping it was going to have revised geometry at the pivot to shorten the throws. Nope. Total buzzkill discovery was the CS shifter is a paltry 3/4" shorter up top at the knob end. 87 short shift kit?

My car and all the other '88 Commemorative Edition 911's came from the factory with short shifters. Option code 243.

Decided to go with the JWest shifter. Ordered and on the way. The stock unit is held up well for 30 years and a couple hundred thousand miles but time for an upgrade. Thanks everyone for the input. Let you know how it goes late next week.

Thank you for your willingness to share your new experience with the JW shifter. Does the wevo shifter have any advantage over the JW shifter that justifies the higher price? Thanks

Good question Stephen. I felt the JWest would be sufficient for my use. I don't need to trim a few seconds off my Texas Hill Country drives.

Good evening - would love to hear a review of the JWest shifter. Also any comparison of the JW shifter to the wevo shifter would be appreciated.
