The old "While I was in there..." trick
So along with a lot of other small projects I have been doing lately one thing let to another that led to another and on to another.....
This is today's....... So I was doing some other stuff on the Latch earlier today and I remembered I had never installed the deck lid rubber stops a long time ago (think SEVERAL years) and so I decided to give it a whirl. I have a fiberglass early whale tail on my car........ but the spots where the rubber stops go weren't drilled out to the correct sizr and looked like this..... ![]() But I didnt have a bit that was big enough to drill so I could screw in the rubber stop..... Since it is fiberglass I thought I would just get a dremel tool and sand it to size..... seemed simple enough....... I was super super careful to not drill UP into the back of the lid, which is the top that you see on the outside..... had to go really slow. I made the hole big enough to screw in the stop AFTER I tested the correct size hole on a plastic piece of scrap. Screwed in the rubber stop there 1st to make sure... this is what the hole looked like as I got bigger. ![]() Drilled to size and boom, done. I should have done this 15 years ago, it was so easy....... Wala... done. ![]() |

Banned but not out, yet..

Well done. Patience and care usually win. I OTOH would have punched through the other side.

Funny you should say that.... patience and I have always had a tumultuous relationship.... but today... I won!
I'm happy with the outcome.... really should have done it a long time ago. I was very nervous about ruining the outside and poking through........ |
