Souk your sending the e-mails to FATPER32@AOL.COM right?

MotoSook 03-01-2005 09:12 AM

Yep...actually I replied to an e-mail you sent me and it got blocked :(

YermanCars 03-01-2005 09:20 AM

Hmmmmm... I have no clue what going on with my e-mail, its been acting funny latley, i have to check it out, you still have my number right, just give me a ring when you get a chance, also as far as the front spliter goes, something that just follows the contour of the bumper, sticks out a little bit, but i dont have the exact design

MotoSook 03-01-2005 09:23 AM

Yeah, I still have your number. I'll give you a call tonight. (Maybe I'll just drop in for dinner at the restuarant this Sat? We'll talk tonight.)

I'm getting a bumper shipment from BW very soon, so I'll play around with a splitter design and shape some foam. We'll see what we can do.

YermanCars 03-01-2005 09:26 AM

OK sounds great, thank you
I know lots of guys who have been looking for a nice splitter for the ctr bumpers, so we'll just see how this goes

trader220 03-01-2005 11:27 AM

I still have the CTR Gas Tank if anyone wants it. It's real, It's documented and It's perfect.

Tom

Eric Mckenna 03-14-2005 10:40 AM

Tom what are you asking for it?

sithot 03-14-2005 11:15 AM

RUF CTR Tank

A real world honest-to-goodness offer would be fine. Just don't steal it, fair enough? :)

Thanks,

Tom

Hi guys,

Here you have few photos of my conversion with turbo tail.

I know, the sideskirts look awful and it is really high. (Iīm working on it.) I hopefully get the C2 rockers soon. Those CUP2 wheels donīt really look that good neither.
Splitter is also on the list as it looks like something is missing.

89turbocabmike 03-17-2005 09:18 PM

I think it's looking great! I hope my car never stops being a "work in progress":) Lowering will certainly make a big difference alone, the rest will be icing on the cake.

piedogger 03-18-2005 12:01 AM

I don't think I ever put any finished pics on this thread, soooo....

JanneSC 03-18-2005 01:35 AM

pierdogger, your ride looks awesome! I hope I will get Cabrio too before summer.

mjmoran 03-18-2005 05:48 AM

Hey there Pie. I like the color change! Looks great!

Cheers,

Wavey 03-18-2005 06:37 AM

Piedogger - how do those mirrors work in the real world? I'd love to add a pair to my stack of stuff, but...

Beautiful car, BTW!

piedogger 03-18-2005 07:12 AM

Thanks guys. The mirrors are real RUF which use a convex mirror. It makes everything appear closer. once I got used to that it wasn't so bad.

Kemo 03-18-2005 05:50 PM

ok...i just HAD to join the posting of conversions :)

heres my 78sc complete with Fuzzy Dice, Beer and a Laptop...

twobone 03-19-2005 03:17 PM

what seals the bumper to body?

What do you guys use to act as the seal between the bumper and the front and rear bodywork?

If I've got a 81' SC would I get 964 seals or something?

Also do any of the front bumpers ordered have built in tabs for mounting fog lamps or a modified deck lid grill?

Wavey 03-20-2005 08:23 AM

The bumper welting is Porsche part # 999 911 205 40 and is '76-80 930 bumper welting. It comes in 5m rolls, 1 will do both ends of the car.

The bumper I bought from BW has tabs at the bottom of the foglamp cutouts, looks like they could use some reinforcement to me. No tabs for a grille - you'd need to fabricate some vertical bars to mount a rear deck grille.

twobone 03-20-2005 12:54 PM

wavey - can you post some pics of the finished product

thanks

Wavey 03-20-2005 02:41 PM

Nope - still sitting in my shop waiting to be installed! Sorry.

MotoSook 03-28-2005 10:49 PM

Thought I'd post something... :)

BlueSideUp 03-28-2005 11:42 PM

OK I don't know if this has been asked but since I'm new I'll ask a dumb question. Is RUF pronounced "Roof" or is it "Rough"?

And for those front splitters I seem to remember someone using reinforced rubber like the stuff used to make conveyor belts on a different car. Not sure where you'd pick that stuff up, maybe someplace like Grainger's?

MotoSook 03-28-2005 11:56 PM

ROOF...

Farm supply stores will have them (don't know if you have them in fancy Californi)...and yes Grainger or McMaster-Carr will have them too.

It's not a high priority project, but I'm going to make a spliter out of f-glass to bolt to my front bumper. Once I make the first one, I should be able to make copies easy enough myself or send them to BW Motorsport for replication....

Eric Mckenna 03-29-2005 06:16 AM

S-man what's up with the RUF stuff? you going that route now?

As usual I'm a day late on this thread....was too caught up in the widebody project and now I'm positive I'm gonna keep Ruby skinny....but will a 72 row oil cooler fit in that front cap????

That looks amazingly like my garage, Souk - Black Carrera, grey primered Ruf bumpers on the floor! My installations will be delayed even more now - I'm going to do the suspension and brakes first.

MotoSook 03-29-2005 07:33 AM

Heh heh...I'm aiming for a June rebirth for the Fat Bastard, Dave. It's going to be tight given all the projects, but I promise to make Tweek Fest (or what ever it's call these days). So I'll make good on the promise I made a year ago to show up :) I may have Heather drive the BTR-esque Fat Bastard and I'll drive the Original Recipe Bastard to the Fest.....crossing my fingers.

Eric Mckenna 03-29-2005 08:41 AM

You better bring one of those cars down for the Taj Speedfest S-man.. or are ya scared to get Whipped out on the AX track :) YEE-Haw.. huh.. wha.... did someone stepin Shee-IT? cuz I smell some..

-Eric

MotoSook 03-29-2005 08:56 AM

Dude! I'll bring a shovel with me, 'cuse I'll be hauling some of my owe sheeet! :) Looks like there is a good chance I'll show at the Taj...no conflicts this year! :D

autoxracer31 03-29-2005 03:29 PM

Here's my front (still waiting to do the back, has anyone used rennspd fglass?)
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1112138865.jpg

And speaking of splitters... Has anyone thought of splitters like an older "s" ?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1112138942.jpg

I always liked the S bumper and the Ruf bumper. Why not mix the best of the oldies and the midyears? ;)

PS: I am also looking for a source of billet/chrome grills like Fishcop's 911 has on the rear decklid. Can anyone think of one?

MotoSook 04-19-2005 01:53 PM

Just a very very preliminary feeler....

Who would be interested in poly-urethane Yellow Bird bumpers?

Slider79SC 04-19-2005 02:03 PM

How much $ are you thinking? That would be very interesting to me.....

oneblueyedog 04-19-2005 02:04 PM

Me. Non turbo. Non RUF prices.

MotoSook 04-19-2005 02:06 PM

I'll know soon. But I expect it to be a bit more than the f-glass version. Which is reasonable given the advantage of the urethane version. We're also looking into other urethane products.

ssetek 04-26-2005 09:45 PM

any word on the bumpers?

MotoSook 04-27-2005 07:04 AM

I'm still waiting on the sample of the urethane.

89911 04-27-2005 07:28 AM

I would be interested in a urethane copy of the narrow body Ruf front spoiler. I've tried several times to pin down the actual Ruf bumpers from Weisach, but I get conflicting information that they only make this in turbo sizes. They would show a bumpers on their website, but I think is is NLA. I've seen the Original Ruf bumper on a turbo and it is very sturdy.
