Sheet metal with some good welding and finish work. I wondered for a bit if they were stainless. Nicely done any way. All the screw holes are marked on the bumpers but I didn't bother taking any more detailed pictures. Mark at Eurotech thought they were better than most of the stuff he has seen. We made a comparison of a set of C2 bumpers that just came in from Better Bodies and the Shaw pieces were more substantial. Gotta say though neither pair is much more than a bit of thin fiber glass. (we are going to be dropping some serious weight here boys :) The Shaw pieces seemed more substantial and were more rigid. But the Better Bodies parts are a different type of glass and are more flexable intentionally.
If it isn't raining tomorrow I can get some more detailed pictures, just tell me what you want to see. I have a Ruf lip that is going on from Pie and it looks like that won't be a problem from Mark's comments. The light buckets need the newer and slightly larger fog lights than my '79. The '84 on should work fine. Haven't decided to use them as a driving light, keep the fogs or make them air ducts for my 930 brakes. |

Thanks Dane. I would recommend coating the back side of the bumpers with undercoating to decrease the likelihood of shock cracking. I have ambitions of Rhino coating the back of mine. I can live with the extra weight for longevity. I would coat the bars too.
Any pictures you can get to will be helpful. How do the light recesses look, how does the back lip/flange look, etc,.. |

Bumperoski! Jett'n to to the top mama!
We need decisions. At this rate, I think I'll wait until Monday. |

Gosh, I am still waffling. As I mentioned before, I absolutely love the rear RUF bumper. It looks sweet. The front bumper is nice, but the shelf bothers me. The lack of the bumper smile rubber makes the shelf look so large.
The white turbo with RUF bumpers looks pretty cool. I'm now trying to visualize the same bumpers, white car, and black center fuchs. Grrrrr... decisions, decisions |

I had a chance to look at Pie's front cap that he said was molded from a actual Ruf front bumper. My Shaw piece is slightly different, as the lower lip curves up instead of down as Pie's does. I also picked up one of the Ruf lip sets. Save your self some money, they are just made from industrial belting material, .35" thick and 2.20" deep and easy enough to fix to the bumpers if you take your time. Looks like they would be cake to cut on a band saw. I suspect you could get a numer of them from the same piece of conveyor belt if someone has the time to saw them up. You sure won't break them :)
BTW Pie's white "Ruf to be cab" looks to e a sweat ride.SmileWavy |

Ed.....those are sweet! Who, what, where, when, how much?
	 |

I got them from my local P parts dealer. He had a client who had the orginal parts on his car and asked if he could make molds of them. He had 3 pairs made for his clients :D i paid 700 euro/dollar for both.

Considering the CTR YB was very purposefull in design to reach 200+ mph, there must be a function of the shelf. I doubt ALois just made it a straight plane just because. I am thinking it actually serves to increase downforce on the front end. The front end of hte 911 has a slight nose down attitute. When the shelf is positioned with this nose down attitude it seems that air flowing over the front end would be directed at pushing the nose of the car down. I would think the "shelf" would do this much better than the rounded sillouette of the OEM bumper. Anyone hear anything on this? |

Only factors are weight, really. Rubber and aluminum suck. Fiberglass rules. And I paint the ***** myself, so swapping out is easy--I guess. Although, the painting isn't as much fun as it could be.
The door panels were made for 28 bucks. They're light. They're not snapped on. The panel can't handle the tugging. So I used long strips of velcro--I don't like toiling. If something's wrong, I need to get that panel off. The velcro holds them well (very wide)...and you just pull them off. Yes, I took off the door handles, got new rubber gaskets for them, took out the locks, and painted them red. If they can do it on 993s, I can do it. They look quite cool in person or I'd have changed them back. The weight continues to go down. The ducktail is light as a feather, and so are the side panels. But I'm running out of things to swap out. I haven't weighed it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/ss.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/sfls.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/rls.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/f.JPG [img] Panel opens door and passenger can close it. Again, bare minimum. I don't care about making it fancy, just functional. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/panel2.jpg In the end, I don't care about making it Ruf or anything else. I'm just looking for the combos that work. Not striving for any particular look or model. In the end, it's a blast one way or another. |

 Kurt, Nice pictures.
As for the group buy. It is final. I will send an e-mail out tonight. Thanks all for your interest. |

We'll the group buy is out of my hands. BW Motorsports is getting the group buy. If you did not receive an e-mail from me tonight, you can send me an e-mail for information. I have over 20 people on the list, but less than half responded. So if you were on the fence, you missed out.
Good luck all with your projects. |

Thanks Souk for ALL THE WORK...you've got my ATTA BOY!
I'm looking forward to the process on the BWM install, I'll have pictures, etc. later.... Thanks again... |

Ordered mine yesterday, great work souk. Guys, jump on it, with gas prices looking like they are only going higher, we may have lots of time to tinker with our toys!
	 |

Methinks the group buy is now closed to new buyers, right?
	 |

Jurgen, Not closed, but the deal is what is is w/ BW. Still a good deal. E-mail me.

It's been a long time since you guys saw this thread, BUT!
Anyone know how the 935 mirrors are mounted? Are they the the same as the Ruf side mirrors? If not, how do the Ruf mirrors mount? Are these 935 mirrors? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/935b.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/935 mirror.JPG Thanks, |

 Souk,
THose mirrors are mounted to the front "vent glass". Not sure if they're 935 or not, but you can check it out on my racecar later. |

According to GT-Racing they are 935 style.
	 |

They look like "generic" (not to imply cheap) mirrors used for general application. The 953 mirrors (I did a search) are suppose to mount to the window frame (drill and screw), but the back of those worry me. If they are screwed into the window frame (leading edge), I think I will have clearance issues.
Anyone install these with nice detailed pictures, please post with pix and comments. Chris, I was so caught up with the other fun items on the racecar I didn't even notice! Too much data to process... :) Thanks, |

 Souk,
My RUF mirrors came with a tube of adhesive, no drilling required. They are also contured to fit on and over the various trim pieces. |

The fun has begun! Only the rear has been mounted so far, hopefully the front will be just as easy.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/Photo0003.jpg :)

 Nice!
Post some details how you hung it if you could. How do the fenders line-up? More pics? Looking forward to getting/ordering my front part next week. |

I was at the hardware store last week, and saw something that may work for the front spoiler lip underneath the front shell.
It was in the gardening department, and was a thick black plastic roll of flower bed edging. I don't know the exact name for the stuff, but it came in several widths, and you use it to separate a flower bed from your lawn. It was cheap too, may be worth looking in to. Tom |

Looking good Brian! I hope your transaction w/ Brad went flawlessly.
Kevin, I have some picks of the BW part, but I'm having problems opening it. IF I can get the files to open rright, I'll post them. They should show plenty of details (thanks Dave). |

The transaction with Brad went very smoothly. His parts are of a very good quality. The rear bumper lined up fairly well requiring only a little massaging. The factory screws/speedclips and bolts can all be reused in mounting the bumper (I did, however, replace the screws with new #10 zinc sheet metal screws from Home Depot). I had to remove the rubber strip to get the nice clean look. Also, on the corners where the turn signals are located, I had to do a little grinding with a wheel because there was some metal that protruded a little too far into the bumper shelf. All told including removal of old bumper and muffler and fitting of new rear bumper, I'd say I have about 3-4 hours in it, tops. I'll go zap some more pics for you.
Next question, does anyone have any good exhaust ideas? I'm considering adding the second outlet to my factory muffler or going the flowmaster route. I don't want to hack the bumper up til I figure that out though. |

What type of mirrors are these? does anyone know?
	http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/MirrorsX.jpg Thanks, Jorge (Targa Dude) |

Thanks for posting the pic - that bumper looks sooooooo sweet! I picked mine up at BW last week and also found Brad to be a great guy, and the parts are very nice. Tom - GREAT idea for the front lip, although I don't know how much room there's going to be down there. After I get mine installed, I may modify or fabricate a new protection bar (the one that bolts to the floor pan and protects the bottom of the apron). Souk - sorry about the problems with the pic files - let me know if you want them in another format, I'd be happy to resend them! |

My camera sucks, so that is about the best I can do. Hopefully it gives you an idea until Souk can get some pics up. Porsche parts took priority over a camera! |

I think the mirrors are DTM, I have the same ones.

I was going to place my order this week, but the back of the front piece is a little disconcerning. There appears to be no lower lip to mount the Ruf lower rubber spoiler to. They appear to be different from the back of the piece that Bill V posted which I thought were also BW pieces.
	Todd |

Todd, all the vendors I talked to didn't think their part would accomodate the ruf lip very we well. E-mail me if you'd like, and I'll give you the non-public info.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago and installed it last weekend, the front anyway. It went pretty easy and the fit is good. I was disconcerted also about the lip. Pie and I have the same thought about the garden edging. One could slit the round part on the top and slip it over the lip. This would possibly give something on the top and bottom to drill and bolt through.
Brad tried to tell me something to try. I got this roll of industrial rubber from the rubber place that would have been perfect had we had a lip. Brad suggested getting some thick rubber and using some kick butt adhesive inside the bottom lip and attaching a thick strip of rubber to the inner lip. Then using the adhesive and some screws to glue, bind the quarter inch lip to the rubber. I like the idea and might go to the rubber place and see if they have some thick stuff. This might work better than screwing the edging to the bottom which, in an off road excursion, might damage the glas. The rear bumper I had picked up cheaply, had the vents cut out, by the black marks on it it obviously had the duel out sport muffler. I am going to do that and if too loud, add some Harley baffles inside the outlets to quiet it down some. Mu painting was acceptable, but the new hood I got will have to be painted for the third time. If any of you remember, I had vandals take a flying leap on it one night parked outside the theatre. Bummed me out considerbly. The first go around, I got the runs, the second was ok, but I had it hanging from the ceiling and the cotton pickin phone kept ringing while I was fitting the front, I stood up quickly and banged the hood which sent it tumbling into my neck and to the chair and then floor. It put a small dent on the front edge, (I was lucky). The painting experience was not that good, after I finished the painting, I went outside to throw some stuff away, and ran into a limb of a pine tree and scratched me eye pretty good. Then three nights later I had the hood peg me in the neck! I am getting clumsy, but plan to be more careful. Just a note, don't paint a hood hanging down, gravity is not good, in retrospect, it had too much orangepeel from the gravity. next time it will be on the sawhorses! |

Wow Jon... I don't know whether to laugh or express my simpathy. Can do both?
Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck! LOL!!!! If it makes you feel better, I almost broke three fingers tonight! Damn delivery service put my HF lift in the Porsche spot in the garage, and they set it on a pallet that got pretty mangled up when they placed it down. I wasn't home to direct. So I had to struggle to get the dang lift free and slide it off the crating! Something let loose and BANG! my fingers between the lift and the crating! I should have been more careful :( So good luck from here on right? Right! lin, e-mail me the picture and I'll post it for you. Better yet, tell us what program you are using, and we'll teach you how to fish! ("Feed a man a fish. you feed him for one day. Teach the man to fish, and you feed him for life!") |

Here you go lin....nice! Tell us more about it.

Well, back to the garage! The pain has mostly gone away.
