Use what to clean plug wires?
Hi guys, I want to clean my plug wires. My fan and housing is out being bead blasted again (last done in 2009). Last time I installed new Magnecor wires; now I just want to clean them up. I've tried cleaning one section of wire using hand cleaner with pumice and also Dawn dish detergent with so-so results. First off, I'm not sure if these products are harmful to the wires (gel) and if there is something some else has already tried with good results.
These are the dirty wires ![]() This is what they looked like in '09 ![]()

WD40 or electronics parts cleaner. Less harsh than Brake Parts or Carb cleaner.

YES, WD40!
I went ahead with HOT water and Dawn on a rag, and that did a fairly good job but was really "grippy" on the plug wires. WD40 removed what the soapy rag didn't and left the cable color much more bright. Thanks Draco; you're a wealth of information on this board! ![]()
