Engine popping problem

On my last ride last fall problem developed. Car is an 85 carrera rebodied in steel to a 993.. A Frankenporsche to some but a beauty to me. Anyway was out for ride last fall for about an hour with no problem. As I pulled into my driveway and let off gas car started popping and backfiring and bucking. When getting back into gas car would bog down and then take off. Messed with a few minutes and shut it down. Didn't touch till spring and car started but ran very rough. Did not attempt to drive and shut it off. Noticed at that point that fuel was dripping in front of passenger side rear wheel. Have not touched it since. Any ideas??

This may be the key to your issue (bold.)^^

Fuel dripping from the area in front of the right rear wheel may indicate a leaking fuel line to the injector(s). Do not drive the car until the fuel leak is found and fixed. A leaking line could account for the rough running and bucking you describe. You should be able to run the pump and look closely for a leak in the fuel lines on the right side of the engine. Proceed with care and have a fire extinguisher handy.

I'm not familiar with EFI systems, but someone who is can likely point you to a more specific area to look for the leak.

Sounds like you lost a fuel supply line feeding the right side bank. I'd check the fuel crossover on the front side of the engine. i think it goes into a fuel pressure regulator and then over to the right side bank. IIRC it is a braided fuel line and not uncommon for them to develop a leak. I'd also check to make sure that over time a nut simply didn't back off a bit.
