Hellraiser, I did that same treatment for our '86. I LOVE the way it looks!! Yours looks awesome.
|
Thanks :)

I'm in doubt,
What colour should I use for the targa bar logos? 1973 original was gold? But I think black will go better with the RSR-look? |
Targa bar polish and brush
Hi, nice project you have going. When I purchased my Targa the bar was polished but i really like the brushed look that you have. Could you please describe how you got that beautiful even finish?
Thanks |
Hello Wade,
I took it to my local metal working company, they polished it on a big wire wheel. I polished the targa bar logo's and painted them in Rust-oleum hard hat flat black https://myalbum.com/photo/l0wfd213K7ax/1k0.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/nvUhaPwFIZ8A/1k0.jpg  |
So...
The body shop got their fire damage repaired and they are working on the car again http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...boldyellow.gif https://myalbum.com/photo/ivU0U9gxvxVz/1k0.jpg |

Can anyone provide me with the correct height for the long hood
hood emblem? :) |
Exactly 6 5/8” from hood lip to tip of emblem (ex rubber gasket) with tape laid completely flat. Pic for demonstration only as I only have two hands. Factory longhood.

First parts on the car :)
https://myalbum.com/photo/VEvXw6ZN2NaV/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/gNbKpvdMRbOl/540.jpg (Front bumper is not secured yet, still have to mount the oil cooler) |
Finally got the time to mount the oil cooler
https://myalbum.com/photo/4Vj9lgNiWSE1/540.jpg Now I need to find the time to attach the grille into the bumper and maybe the thing will be on in 2-3 weeks http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/shake.gif |
|
Front bumper finished
https://myalbum.com/photo/CDEpHrrJk9Zl/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/xkXfsSj9ow1T/540.jpg now I need to drill some holes in the latch panel and inner fender to guide the oil lines. with the G-style front bumper there was enough room to accomodate the oil lines. this room is gone now due to the backdate and long hood. |
Eventually we're getting there..

That yellow looks nice and fresh. Good skills and nice choice in color.

Looking amazing! I love yellow! My first BMX bike was spray painted "Corvette Yellow" so naturally I love all yellow cars. :-)
|
What color yellow is that ?? Looks darker than my 1987 Summer Yellow Targa any black stands out !!
|
Nice journey, transformation, and pic documentation HellR :)

3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4And seeing that the light was good, God separated the light from the darkness.

That is one voluptuous Targa.
|
Voluptuous is an underused fantastic term that describes this Targa perfectly, well done :)
|
Thanks :)
We're going slow, but work, wife, kids.. They're all absorbing my spare time at the moment.. |
Great work!!!
And a bump to the "voluptuous" description...wow, what a shape! I'd love to photograph this one: when are you bringing her to California?! :D Looking forward to watching this beauty come together... |
Small update,
Targa roof is back on after 2 years :) https://myalbum.com/photo/cs44NIQTsVzq/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/dprHllbS533f/540.jpg Working on the doors right now: https://myalbum.com/photo/fU6w7NxZNqJq/540.jpg I have bought the pivot spring retainers, only to find out there are 2 versions, 23mm and 26mm.. Didn't measure them yet, so I hope I bought the right ones.. https://myalbum.com/photo/Rfdv28R56WSX/540.jpg |
Looks good!
Ready to roll for Porsche Club Francorchamps Days? |
I really really really hope so :D
|
|
Tell me about what lights you're using other than stock?
|
Just the stock headlights, they were out at the time because we were
soldering the wiring the PO cut off. |
