Targa RSR project :)
Hello,
it's been a while since I last owned an aircooled 911 (been on the scenic route with a 996TT), but a few months ago I started a new project :D To make a long story short, I ended up with a DP935-1 conversion https://myalbum.com/photo/Ccz4dANvaT1G/540.jpg I didn't like the car, but it had the right wheels :D So I've stripped it :) https://myalbum.com/photo/5yblfI41b2pJ/540.jpg Took it to my body shop https://myalbum.com/photo/bWhqgsTb4JNs/540.jpg |

Can't wait to see how this goes...
I own a black targa as well and am keen to see your work finished. Those tires are just fantastic - tread looks so perfectly vintage.
Keep on it and show us some magic! |
I too am working on an RSR width Targa right now. Mine is more IROC though, but same idea. I bought mine with steel quarters already welded on: RSR width in back, Turbo plus 1.5" in front, so really wide.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494000219.jpg

My '77 with a '84 motor and transmission. Not quite as wide as yours, but still a fatass. |
Thanks and nice targa's you guys have there!

Small update,
I gave the body shop my last instructions and handed over the colour code so hopefully by the next update it will be painted :) https://myalbum.com/photo/SDAjIxZ1z6dS/540.jpg https://myalbum.com/photo/jRPbM9mpqZ78/540.jpg |

Looking good!

that color screams for black out fuchs as contrast!!
|
Thanks, but that's just the primer colour
The paint colour will scream for RSR-finish on the fuchs  |

Looks good, who's duck tail spoiler is that? I am looking for one that fits well....
|
Thanks, but the next update will be in January,
the painter will start end December. @911bruce, the ducktail and body panels are carbon/kevlar from Van Thull Development in the Netherlands. this is their website: http://www.vanthulldevelopment.com/ https://myalbum.com/photo/HxZbXdm1B2Ou/540.jpg They also built the car. ;) |
Removed the fuel tank yesterday in order to relocate the filler neck.

What is the material on the underside of the rear deck lid? Johan |
Hello Johan,
body panels are made of carbon/kevlar, this is the material that you see. ;) |
Cool project [emoji106]

Thanks! :)

Nice!...:)

Have you decided what to do about the front oil cooler? They usually don't fit with the RS bumper, and if you notch the front panel now's the time to do it with the tank out.
|
What kind of tires are those?

Guys, this is not the color. It's just primer. We are waiting. Maybe it's nice that everyone is being polite though. Yokohamas? |
Thanks :)
@Rodsrsr, we dit trial fitment with the cooler installed and it should not give any issues. I'll wait with the installation of the fuel tank though, thanks for the heads up! @kavadarci, tires will be replaced, but I think the rear ones were Yokohama Advan, and the front something Chinese from the early 90's. |
Wow, this is pretty exciting! I do like the carbon kevlar ducktail and inner fenders! Can't wait to see the final color... i'm thinking the final product is some metallic pearl color, maybe off balloon white? Keep up the good work!
|
Thanks Eric,
the cars original colour was B6 Hellgelb, think it's going to look great with black/white houndstooth interior  |
I think it's going to look beautiful with what you plan on doing!
At first I thought your car was going to be salmon silver metallic. Hellgelb is fantastic though!! |
