Replacement coil?

I have been gone from this forum for a couple of years as I experimented in the water-cooled world. I am back now and looking to pick up a spare coil.

I did a search and looked through the parts catalog to see if anything new was available. I didn’t find much so I will ask: What is up in the world of coils? Is there a preferred route to go? Is the silver coil still a POS?

Thanks for any and all help.

Yes. The MSD blaster epoxy filled coil works with the stock bosch ignition boxes. Just peel the sticker off.

To clarify further, do you mean the MSD Blaster 8222 coil?

Also, will that work with the stock Motronic ignition in the 3.2 engines, too?

Is the MSD Blaster coil OK for the SC and 3.2 both?

There are alternative high voltage coils of new design / manufacture specifically designed for the Porsche CDI ignition.

Parts?lassi? makes a CDI coil that is very close to the original Bosch coil.

Replacement coil?

Finding a replacement for a 3.2 Carrera is a challenge. The SC with CDI coils is different.

I finally found a used original black coil. It is sad that a 30 plus year old coil is the best option for a 3.2 Carrera.

8222, yes. Wouldn't use it on a 3.2.
