Best drink (cup) holder for older 911's

My 1973T 911 does not have a cup holder (for coffee) as do all the other 911's around. I have seen the holder that fits into the cigarette lighter, but question just how well it stays plugged it, and the holder that somehow is attached to the seat slide, but that about it!

I do not want to perform any modifications like drilling holes or mounting brackets, I am just looking for something new that works!

Right now I am using a lockable "non-spill" insulated coffee holder nested between a half dozen baseball caps and a towel on the passenger seat. That's just not right!

Anyone found a drink holder that's a sure bet?

Thanks

Bob

So you do not have the side pockets?

The 14 ouncers fit perfectly and my garage opener helps keep it in place when I drive.

If you are talking about Big Gulp size, yeah the base will not fit there.

I have a cigarette cup holder but never used it as my side pockets work very well.

Roll of duct tape on the floor? Cheap, removable and easy to install.

........no side pockets! The 73 - 911 side pockets are narrow and might hold a tooth brush!

I have the plug in cig lighter drink holder. The holder itself is A+. I use a coozie around a soda can and it holds it fine.

The plastic bushing that squeezes the rubber end (not the knob) is a cheap piece of plastic and will break when you try to tighten it up. When firm, it still wobbles in the holder, though it wont slip out. I used it on a 500 mile trip recently and worked great. Again, this was after I replaced the cheap plastic included retainer that holds the rubber piece on. I found a 1/4" table foot. I removed the plastic bush off that and that has held it much better. For the price, it should have a much better business end design.

PVC Pipe parts and aluminum bar mounts to front two bolts of seat rail. Perfect position for reaching down and grabbing that drink! This one even has a 'relief' for your coffee cup handle!

I have this older console pad that straddles the parking brake. It sits elbow high and has a slide out cup holder. It is stamped with the name HUSCO Wilton, CT.

Mine was with the car when I got it in '08.

They appear to be an international business for industrial stuff, and this item may once have graced their street performance line.

Now, I am not saying it is the best, because it appears to be made of unobtainium.
I just goggled it and they stopped making them - they were for BMW and Benz, and you had to specify as the legs/standoff brackets were different depending on your ride.

cupholder

While at 7-Eleven getting your cup of coffee p/u two of their free 4-cup pressed cardboard drink holders, place them, doubled together for strength, on the floor behind your passenger seat. The area is restrictive enough to hold everything in place nicely without tipping over. If you're still worried, wedge a tissue box next to it to finish it off.
Viola!

Cheers- Harry

I bought a cheap plastic "bubba" mug and used a fancy wire tie to attach it to the seat belt anchors between the seats. All smaller drinks, cans or bottles easily fit inside. Cost all of $5.

The best cup holder for an older 911? NONE. There, I said it. I've had my SC since new and wouldn't consider drinking (anything) while driving. What ever floats your boat. . .

On 6 to 10 hour long hauls on interstates I would be hard pressed not to have a drink in the car. On spirited backroad cruises, no way. To each their own.
