I finally own a 911!!!
Yesterday, I sealed the deal and drove away in a gorgeous '78 SC Euro Coupe. Earlier this month, I sold my 912E rolling chassis and all the engine parts in order to buy a 911. I now know it was all worth it!!!!
I bought the car from a Pelican member. His Pelican ID is SeaDweller. For the past week, my emotions were all over the map. However, as I drove the car into the cul de sac and turned around, my face grew to a huge grin. It only took 30 seconds to know I'd made the right choice. The handling is crisp (EURO ride height from the factory and wide fuchs). The braking is clean. However, the built 3.0L engine was really exciting. I've never driven a car that has so much potential. I need to get back into autocrossing and also try a few driver's ed events. This car is well above my skill level. I have to be honest with myself, even if that means admitting to my lack of skill. The car is mechanically very strong, so I look forward to years of trouble-free driving. I already have a shortlist of tiny tweaks and repairs that should keep me busy on a few weekends. ![]() Thanks to all who've given me advice and support, and special thanks go out to Mark Wilson, sammy2g, and Jeremy964, who personally viewed 911 I was considering. I owe you guys!!! I also want to thank SeaDweller for putting up with my constant barrage of questions and concerns. This car is an long-term investment in my happiness, and I wanted it to be just right. I had some doubts about buying an SC. Could this car really be so great when they're owned by characters such as MikeZ(Freak) and Sammy2g-string. ![]() Been only 2 days since I was on the 911 BBS, and I have tons of threads to read. ![]() Jürgen '78 Euro coupe ![]() |

Jurgen,
Congrats!! That's a great looking SC, looks like a much later model in that picture. VERY clean. You'll never look back on your decision. Definitely do some DE's, as your car was built for just that. You'll love it. Welcome aboard. regards and have fun working on your new toy.

Yes, an SC is as good as they say. Congratulations. Indeed, you have made an excellent purchase. Enjoy. And as far as the car being more capable than your limited skill level, I'd say there are few people who can drive a 911 to its potential. We're all unworthy.

Excellent - welcome to the club.
A word of advice - parts for the Euro cars can be very difficult to find when you need them. If you happen to come across a used CIS system for a Euro '78 or similar year, I would pick it up as a spare. Otherwise, you may be hard pressed to find the part when you need it... -Wayne

Jürgen,
I thought the car looked familiar when you sent me the pix, and then sewdweller posted his sale on the day you said you'd be picking it up. Very very nice. Congrats. Later, |

Jurgen,
It looks great! Lets see more pics. Also, what are the engine numbers on yours? 930/03? And what about the number on the fan shroud vertial surface? Just curious.

I always thought the Euro cars had Side Marker Lights in the fenders. Here is a side pic of my 81 Euro. When did they start the side marker lights?

Welcome to the club! Glad to see the car stay in the Pelican community. I know it must have been pretty emotional for Mike to sell the car, since he's put so much work and effort into it.
