targa handle pin broke, can it be replaced / fixed?

Hi everyone,

Went to put my targa top on last friday (very rare occasion) to wash my car and one of the handle pins broke when I clicked the handle / latch from the open to the locked position to secure the top to the top of the windshield. Looking and the handle and the metal round post, the pin is completely gone with the small hole showing undamaged. Can that pin be replaced / fixed or do I need to get a new handle with the pin in place?

TIA,

Scott

Thumbs up

I don't see why a new pin couldn't be fabricated and inserted into the round Rod, but I'd be more concerned whether the old pin is jamming up the latch as that's the expensive part. Have you retrieved the old pin?

I'd be interested to see what you find out. I've been rocking two one-pin handles since I bought my cab. The increased pressure doesn't seem to affect the operation but I'm just waiting for the day the pin goes. And I imagine you've seen the price of OEM ones? Yikes!

So, some good news (so far). The pin did pop out and was found. Interior shop guy said we can reseed the pin with loctite and a few taps. Waiting for loctite to cure and will test in driver's side latch in a day or two...
