Would you ship ups or fed ex ground?
Is Fed ex ground all subcontractors if so that makes me think ups is the best way to go..

I would ship via Greyhound if it serves the cities involved. It is the least expensive for large objects and, in my experience, faster than the other ground shippers.

For me, greyhound sucks as a shipper or receiver. I have to drive into the city and pay to park in a garage. Most of the time it takes them 20 minutes to find the package. 2 hours round trip. No thanks! I use FedEx for engine cases and trans.

the private contractors you seem to put so much faith in with FEDEX is misplaced. UPS & forget it as it will arrive. I would ship the case halfs in separate boxes & remove the head studs.

When I shipped my case to supertec they had me remove all the studs prior to shipping to them. Then bolt down to a piece of plywood that is cut to fit inside the shipping box and wrap up. I used ups both ways.

I shipped a Ferrari head to a machine shop using FedEx. I made a plywood box to fit the head, brace it with wood plank, screw the top in place, and shipped it there for $50. They used the same box to ship it back.
