Another "Where do these go?" thread - Dash light bulbs

I am cleaning up the horrific wiring mess under my dash and of course came across a couple of lights that are not "plugged" into a holder or a base and was hoping someone might know where they go.

The bottom bulb in the pic lights up when I move the fan lever and stays on = so I guess it must light up the little fan icon? (cant see anything behind there due to the radio and the ashtray. It has yellow/red wire and black wire running to it.

The top bulb circled does not come on unless you turn on the light switch. It does NOT go to the ashtray - that bulb is in place and working. It has 4 wires - blue - 2 brown and a black (i think).

They go to the slide control panel. The fan one you've figured out. They push into the round plastic holes in the back. The plastic deforms from the heat of the bulbs so they may not push in and stay. Feel around ....you'll find them.

Pete is correct, they both belong to the ventilation panel.

Ivan, the bulb to the ashtray has one grey and one brown wire.

Maybe a good time to fuse your dash and check other connections so your car doesn't burn up.

4 corners of ventilation panel with fan icon one as you mention for when fan is on

You will likely need to tack them in web some glue as deformation makes them fall out

Worst location and one of the worst contortions of my body I've ever had to do to fix something. There literally should be a procedure on how to contort yourself. I recall feet up in air by the driver side headrest is a good start.

Another "Where do these go?" thread - Dash light bulbs

These 4 bulbs are really a pain to access! And glue only seems to last a year tops, then they pop right back out. I installed LEDs but the heat from 33 years of incandescent bulbs distorted the plastic holders.

Terrible design!

Yes, as others have said, accessing the ventilation panel is a real pain. When I finally couldn't stand not having these bulbs dangling around I removed the radio for better access. i was able to reach in and reinsert the bulbs into the sockets. I used a little bit sticky automotive caulk/sealer to help keep them in place. Problem solved
