Deploying- off we go!

Guys, my wife and I are preparing to be deployed to an undisclosed location for an undetermined amount of time. I can’t say when I’m leaving but if you watch the news then you know it will be very soon. Please keep our troops in your thoughts.

I’m pretty bummed that I wont make to Santa Barbara Run I this weekend. Have a great time and be safe. We’ll plan for Big Bear Run III when I return.

I will be taking some SCWDP stickers w/ me, it’s all for the good of the plot. ;)

EDIT: Well guess what... I tried to wait to the last minute before I posted this and as soon as I did, things changed. Many of you know that change is all you can count on in situations like this.

We are on hold, destination unknown and who knows when we may be leaving now. I might be able to make SBRI after all!

DonDavis 02-06-2003 11:14 AM

A little over 10 years ago, we did the "we're going.....no we're not.....yes we are.....no we're not- shuffle" and then actually went for 9 months, I can tell you that I think of ALL the deployed troops almost every. (ok, not every single one, but I try)
There's a lot that I miss about serving, but saying 'bye' will never be one of them.

"Watch yer 6, and get back quick!"

All board members and visitors, if you personally know someone that is away from their home for an extended amount of time, be it military or professional, words cannot describe what it means to get a piece of personal mail. I'm not talking about email, but an actual letter. When that person calls your name and it's placed in your hands, everything falls away and for that few minutes, nothing else matters.

Ask me how I know.

Oldporsche 02-06-2003 11:16 AM

Keep your head down and powder dry!

Stay safe! Shoot first!

May you and your loved ones stay safe and sound.

Good luck,
David Duffield

Dr. Ryan,
Please give us your snail mail address when you can so we can make sure you get some real mail.

Dave

pwd72s 02-06-2003 12:22 PM

Don't list your APO here! But you could give it to a trusted board member, who could pass it on to others via PM. Yes, we can send little things your make your deployment bearable if not enjoyable. Godspeed & thank you for your service!

DonDavis 02-06-2003 12:28 PM

I don't know Ryan personally, but I'm thinking he gets mail via (F)leetPO.
That true, Ryan?

surflvr911sc 02-06-2003 12:51 PM

Thank you all for your kind words and support.

This is very true, I have nothing to add, you said it all.

To be honest, I don't know what that is but assume "FleetPO" would be for a ship? We are land based when we're not in the air.

I'll give you guys an update when I know more and again, Thank you.

Paul Crowther 02-06-2003 12:54 PM

Thanks for being there for us. Believe me, a lot of people here really DO recognize what our troops mean for us, and we do care about you all.

Godspeed.

9XI 02-06-2003 12:58 PM

Bob's Flat-Six 02-06-2003 01:18 PM

God speed, I was in Berlin 40 years ago during the Berlin crisis the press and history has made is seem scarier and more tense than it was.

Come back safe and sound. I know you won't forget the sound of an air cooled P-Car.

John
