How do I install these?

I’m asking how do I remove the old ones without breaking the levers they are attached to?

They just pull off- friction fit; don't bend side to side.

Put a pair of vise grips on the backside, snug but not tight.

Gently tap the grips with a small hammer.

Did not need heat.

Go it off! Taped it off a few times to keep from damaging it the pulled off with pliers.

Then found this..

It was installed upside down.. it has faded just on the side it was installed.

So debating on whether to install the new one or try to refurbish the original.

Refurbish is easy.

Pan of hot RIT red dye for a couple hours.

Use white-out in the recesses, it's latex paint. wipe off the excess.
