Fuchs offset question....
I listed a set of 16" x 6"&7" Fuchs and the buyer would like to know if they would fit on a 944S. (they came off my '87 911)
The part number for the 6Jx16 is 911361.020.43 and it has a 17 next to the 6Jx16. The part number for the 7Jx16 is 911361,020.44 but it has nothing next to the 7Jx16... They both measure about 4-3/4" (12.065cm) from the mounting face to the inside face of the wheel. So yeah, does anyone know if these will fit on a 944S? Somewhere on the back of the wheel the offset should be stamped. There will be an ET and next to it usually a polished flat spot with a number stamped. Most likely 36 on the 6s and 23 on the 7s. If you provide the offsets to the potential buyer he should be able to determine if they will fit.

As to the 944 fit it depend on the year, early 944(thru '86) generally can use 911 wheels late cannot, 924 certainly used 6's but I've never seen a 944 w/ 6's

The 944S is late offset, so normally no. But..
People have put the 16x6 and 16x7 Fuchs on the late 944, so it is doable. However it is quite close, so adequate fitment depends largely on tire choice and alignment. I would recommend against it unless the person is up for fitment 'experimenting.' In other words, it is very likely the tires would rub under cornering and he/she may need to roll the fenders. Since people have done it I imagine they clear the brakes. But aforementioned tire rubbing is definitely a concern though. And indeed, Porsche never put a 6" wheel on a 944. If he/she just wants wheels, there are other options that fit better. If they want the Fuchs style, the ideal solution is a custom made set of quality replicas.
