Having trouble finding suitable tires for my 76 turbo. The Fuchs are 15x7 front and 15x8 rear. Live in north east tire dealers I've tried can't seem to find any appropriate rated tires for me. Any suggestions?

OE tires for early 3.0 was the pirelli CN36 which has a taller diameter than the shorter 50 series P7 on 15 inch option tires if memory serves. later 77 or 78 they went to the much more common 16 inchers that were closer in diameter.
the CN36 are period correct cool with balloon looking section even if they arent most sticky rubber imo. they are available again from longstone 185 60 15F 215 60 15R were the stock size idart is a pel member but most of his wonderful historic documentation of the early 930s are on fchat.. post##6283 down below https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/930-turbo-carrera.344030/page-252 |

for one year only, 1976, 7 & 8 x15 w/ P7 205/50 & 225/50 x15 were offered on Carrera 3.0 and 930 My C3 came new w/ 2 wheel/tire options option 1 was 7 & 8 x15 Fuchs, these would come w/ 185/70 & 215/60 x15 tires CN36 was one possible tire Michelin XWX another, This was also an approved but not standard wheel & tire package for 930s option 2 was the 205/50 & 225/50 P7 tires on the 7 & 8s, this was the standard 930 wheel & tire setup before that one year and after there were other setups.

OK the owner manual list front tires 185/70 VR15 and the rear tires 215/60 VR15. Bill and
Panzerfaust what tire size would you go with to maximize ride comfort. I have to think about my co-pilot a little bit aka.....(wife) |

the general rule of thumb would be to go with the taller aspect ratio 70 and 60 series tire with the taller side walls for comfort. 15's are retro cool these days especially with the old school tread pattern without rain channel radial grooves.

Going with the original size will give you a great ride and not be too harsh. I figure the current compounds are probably much better than the ones that were available back when the cars were new.

the other thing is the speedometer is different for each tire option So if you are sure that 185/70 & 216/60 was what it came w/ the yes that is what you use. These will also be more comfortable.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I just received this months Panorama magazine and there's an article about proper tires for the older Porsche. I'll post the link.
