Another backup switch question
On a '76 911 I've taken the trans. support bracket off and am ready to remove the backup switch but the speedo cable connects right next to the switch. I can get a wrench in there but cannot move it because of the speedo connection.
For you guys who have done this job, did you guys undo the speedo connector?

I don't know what a electric speedo looks like, all I can say is that in my situation, a cable runs adjacent to the backup switch that I am saying is the speedo cable. I can post a pic. if you like.

It's just that the '76 2.7 Carrera came w/ a 915/43 w/ the older style mechanical speedo the "76 Carrera 3.0 came w/ a 915/44 w/ electric speedo I had always assumed that all the '76 Carrera's used the same trans, I was wrong.

Pull the speedo cable then use a combination wrench to loosen the switch. Either open end or box.

Are you pulling the wires off of the switch with needle nose?
