Thanks guys!

Having a hard time sourcing some parts. Like the throttle cross shaft ball stud that bolts to the right side carb, and a double groove pulley for the A/C.

Any help would be appreciated!

cheers

I might have the throttle shaft mount. I'll check this weekend.

Great build! I think I have the pulley plus I am in Ontario so their is no cross-border duty. I will check this week. I also have a set of SSI heat exchangers and other parts for sale if you are interested. Send me a message with your contact info.

I really enjoyed the write-up and the pictures. Keep up the good work! It is inspirational to me as another early targa owner.

Awesome thanks! PM sent

Well we got the cases split on the 2.2. Turns out we had 2 pistons seized in their bores preventing the crank to turn, but the oil pump was also seized up with gunk that we had to cut the oil pump drive shaft to be able to turn the crank for piston removal.

Severed oil pump driveshaft,

Crank bearings are in fantastic shape and the crank looks great so we got lucky there.

Well we got the engine cases back from the machine shop. They installed new oil squirters, removed the oil passage plugs and cleaned out the entire cases and machined new plugs. They also repaired the one oil passage hole that was corroded straight through.

Now the pistons and cylinders going back in,

Always check new parts, when we pulled the pistons out of the jugs ALL the ring gaps were in a straight line lol.

I agree. There has been a tremendous amount of work done in that short period. Very encouraging.

Sauceman, where is your shop located? Nice work!

RWebb 03-19-2019 05:10 PM

re welding

- the car can be considerably stiffened if extra welds are added - also Dave at TRE knows how to weld in some extra metal to really stiffen the car; may work for a targa - I'm not sure

enjoy the wonderful road racing pattern shifter...

Sauceman 05-05-2019 12:19 PM

A company called FibreNew in Belleville came over and fixed it. Not sure what product they used.

Well after a long time to get parts shipped we are back at the 911!

Getting a lot of fidly bits done like shifter and throttle rods in place before the engine goes back in.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603031107.jpg

Looking through the parts manual I'm having trouble finding out which fittings I need.

There are the ones for the two small oil lines here,

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603031183.jpg

And what goes into this hole here beside the oil thermostat,

Thanks again for helping out this Porsche newb!

cheers

That is for the oil pressure sender. That is assuming you have the gauge for oil pressure , as some cars just had a warning light.

Awesome thanks, yes it has a gauge so I will order the sending unit for it.
