82 engine into a 71-ignition wiring questions

I am helping a friend install an 82 engine into a 71 body. The engine has an intact wiring harness and all the 14 pin plug wires are present and correct. The body harness is mostly intact, but was painted over in most locations. I have reassembled the 14 pin plug on the body side, putting the pins back where they fit best according to length and prior bends. I intend to make a transition 14 pin jumper by splicing a couple of plugs which will connect the two harnesses. I can figure out the starter, oil senders, alternator, and backup switch wires. Internal regulator on the alternator. How do you integrate the 3 wire ignition wiring on the body to the 6 wire ignition that we are using with the engine?
Thanks in advance!!!

I need to add that we are going to use a relay board with a 6 pin ignition plug. So my question really is how to connect the body harness to the relay board plug.

I can't quite understand what you are doing with the board in the engine compartment. I will say from my own experience it will require you to do some custom wiring. The 14pin connectors are not the same between the '71 and the SC motor. There are other diffences, such as the tach, instrument senders, etc. It took me a week to build a custom engine harness and re wire my engine compartment board and wiring.

I also don't under stand what you mean by " integrate the 3 wire ignition wiring on the body to the 6 wire ignition that we are using with the engine". You will have to use the 6 pin CDI if you are using the SC distributor. Are you sure you have an alternator with the built in regulator?

You also don't mention if you are running the CIS.

Basically, you will need to get the wiring diagrams from the car and motor. I had to modify the 14 pin connectors and create a new harness, and I am running carbs. No other way to do it.
