Overwhelmed.............
I never thought this would turn into a full time job. Just kidding. There is a lot of interest from all over the country. Correction, there is one guy from Europe and one from Australia on the list. So people from every where would be joining us.
I went over my long list of things to do for an engine tear down and assembly which I stopped using after doing several engine rebuilds. But for an organized group class and demonstration, I need to plan the activities and subjects to cover. Questions and answers would be part of the class activities. Basically, the engine rebuilding class is how I do the different steps in engine tear down and assembly. These are my preferred methods and you could change or modify them as you develop your skills. Since this will be my maiden group class demonstration, not exactly sure if one day is sufficient to cover the subjects. I have not done this before. But I honestly believe, we could do it in one session. So make plan for an extra day just in case we need to review or go back to discuss more about some aspect of the engine rebuild process. At this point, it looks like we will have two (2) sessions in April 2018. The Hershey Swap Meet will be on April 21 (Saturday) and this is my annual pilgrimage. Below is the tentative schedule: Session I: April 12-13 (Thursday & Friday) Session II: April 14-15 (Saturday & Sunday). Session III: April 23 - 30 (reserved dates for additional sessions). June 2018 sessions: No specific schedule yet. July 2018 sessions: No specific schedule yet. I like to have a small group like 5 participants per session so we get more hands on experience per individual. Suggestions, recommendations, etc. is highly welcome. My wife is helping me prepare a printed handouts (syllabus) from my logbook. Thanks. Tony Last edited by boyt911sc; 01-05-2018 at 05:28 PM.. |

Interested in a July session if scheduling works out. I've attended a few technical classes like this (901 rebuild, Ducati engine maintenance and suspension voodoo) and found them to be extremely enlightening.

Tony,
If I can help in any way, let me know. I can think about alternative locations with more space if you'd like. I had the pleasure of getting Tony's help while mating the case half's of my garage rebuilt 3.5L turbo motor. He also lent me several tools including a stretch gauge for the ARP rod bolts. Cheers Rich

Summer class........
Quote:
Evan, I am planning to have a couple of sessions in June or July. A member from Germany has expressed interest to attend. Do you have a specific date in mind? The enrollment has gone beyond my expectation. To accomodate the growing numbers of participants, I have to move the venue to a bigger and spacious facility. Tony |

How about videoing it and offering for sale? We could use some 911 how-to rebuild vids.

Tony,
add me to your list. I would love to attend a session in April. will each class include tear down and build. if not, pls clarify what each session would cover. I have my 78 930 engine torn down to the case. used Wayne's book and advice from Steve Weiner and local Porsche friends. but would gladly go through the teardown again. I'll be watching for updates.
