I'm gonna assume this is a solicitation of opinions...

The IROC will be cheaper, as you won't need to mess with finding fenders and lightboxes. You also won't need to cut that piece of metal behind the rear reflector. This is technically cutting the chassis, but it's pretty minor, can be done by a normal human, and is easy to weld back in (or so I'm told by a skilled welder).

The longhood will cost a bit more, but boy...have you seen them?

Thanks! The WEVO and PSJ did add a little transmission wine to the cabin, but thats very much what I'm going for. I want it to be loud and brash and annoying to take on long drives.

I took the pedal box completely, refinished all the parts and replaced everything that was warn out. Everything is nice and responsive now.

I've slowly been falling in love with the impact bumpers. I still want to go light weight so I'm considering just replacing the current bumpers with fiberglass when I do repaint. Maybe even shorten the front by just half and inch or so.

For good reason—Porsche nailed the design when conforming to the new laws. My favorite part of them is the black trim and spoilers, and most fiberglass does away with this. Might could add some black tape a la RS tributes, but with squarish fiberglass "impact" bumpers. I dunno.

Though I rather like them, the rear bumperettes are heavy, easily removed, and in the worst place weightwise.

It's been a while since I've updated... but I have been putting in some work. Where did we leave off?

I think I had torn off all my suspension and brakes, sounds about right. Heres a few messy images from the tear down.

From there it was on to the rear.







Even got the brake booster rebuilt and threw in a new Master Cylinder.

Had to set the height a few times. I think she's actually a little higher up than the pictures here show.






I did have to roll the fenders. I cracked and chipped so much paint.

It was already cracked in a few places through out the body, so I knew I was going to need a respray at some point. This just means its going to need to happen sooner.

I'm going to be cleaning and painting the fender wells here pretty soon, then saving up my pennies to get the rest done. If anyone knows a good body shop in the East Bay let me know. I want to do a window out respray, but I suspect its going to need a good amount of prep.

I'd also like to have a few holes patched (antenna, rockers, etc.) and maybe even the sunroof.

Havent had a chance to update in a while. Wanted to start off with a nice shot I took over the holidays. The weather was nice and I was able to take her out to my favorite brewery, Drakes.




I've also been installing a really nice M&K 911s style muffler, but in doing so found out that the previous owner did a total hack job when installing a new CAT. (Literally hacked out the old one and just tacked in a new one)

They let the muffler hang when mounting it up so the flange is no where near the stock location. This left the straight out muffler looking crooked and sad.

Luckily, Brian over at Rarlyl8 also does CARB legal cat pipes. So we should be sorted out in a few weeks. I'll get a whole post up documenting that when its looking good.

Over due for an update. Sad news... I sold my 2012 911 GTS.

The good news, I now have a budget to go a little crazy with the SC. I have a bunch of updates to post, but I've been buying so many parts its hard to keep track of whats being done. Oh and don't worry, the GST is gone, but it will not be my last 997.2.

So, what have I been up to... I purchased a 1-2 muffler from M&K and went to install it on my car.

I couldn't be happier with the quality of product I received, top notch.


Unfortunately, when the previous owner had the CAT replaced they simply cut out the old one and had the new one tacked in with the muffler hanging. You wouldn't notice it much with the stock muffler, but wow could you see a problem with the pipes coming out the back.



So, I went back to Brian @ RarelyL8 and said, HALP! He set me up with this beautiful high flow CAT pipe, which is still CARB compliant.




I still need to adjust things a little to get them just right, but what an improvement.

This looks and sounds amazing! Extremely happy with the quality of products and customer service I received from RarelyL8.

I'm glad this thread is up and running again, as it inspired me previously with my own build. I bought a fiberglass rear valence from M&K, and it was very high quality.

Speaking of valences, if you (or anyone else) would like to trade your front non-foglight valence for one with fogs, let me know.

Thanks for the offer, but I really like the clean look of the non foglight valance. If I do change my mind I'll be sure to let you know.

No clip yet, but I will eventually get one up. I want just want to double check to make sure I don't have any leaks so I get an accurate sound. It didnt come with a plug for the O2 sensor and it was proper, wake up the neighbors, loud.

I put in a plug but didnt have a crush washer for it or the proper size hex to torque it down, so I'm sure its still leaking a bit from there.

Thanks! I have another set of wheels that are being refinished, in black of course. I'm also working on a replacement for the mirrors that is similar in concept to the Vitaloni mod that people have done, but something I havent seen before. Its either going to look great or terrible.

I wanted to share another little project I tackled, a light-weight "sound system."

The original plan was to take an old Anker Sound core and jam in into the single din location from the original stereo. It was a snug fit but I was running into issues trying to turn it on and off, not being able to reach the buttons from under the dash as I had hoped.

So, I did a little research and found a very simple bluetooth sound module. I then took the speaker apart and soldered up the new board removing the battery as well (saving even more weight).




The board hooks up to a DC/DC usb converter I purchased and wired to the ignition power that previously went to the stereo. Its a two plug converter so I can also charge a phone.

I then jammed it all back into the dash.



It works great. When I start the car up my phone automatically syncs up to the bluetooth and I can play music from my phone. The quality is as good as any portable speaker. Its just the right amount for someone that just wants the option of music, but prefers hearing the car.

I eventually want to get a better box created that fits directly in the din location. Its also possible to get a more powerful amp module and set of speakers. And dont worry, I'm going to install a backdated trim that has a nice mesh cover over the speakers.

While I was in there I also added a bunch of inline fuzes for the dashlights and stuff like that.

Yea, I was surprised that I couldnt find something like this. I did find a few center speaker sets, but they are all discontinued and were over $150. I'd guess you could produce a product for under $30 and sell a bunch of them.
