89 3.2 Failed SMOG w/ New Cat, O2 sensor and Tuneup

Hopefully Someone smarter than me can help me out!

I recently bought an 89 911 3.2 from a guy in Florida.

It had an aftermarket turbo kit which I removed

The following has been done to the car within the last 3 weeks.

New Aftermarket Catalytic Converter
New Spark Plugs
New Cap and Rotor
Oil Change
New Air filter
Injectors Rebuilt
New Fuel Pump
New Fuel Filter
New Fuel Pressure Regulator
Original Chip put back in the ECU

I had it smoged two days ago and it passed the emissions but failed the visual because the oil tank was venting to the atmosphere not into the intake.

So I ordered the hose and the inner valve that goes from the oil tank to the intake and installed them.

I had it checked again today and it failed the Emissions.

The "NO" went from 1 & 3 on the 1st test to 1269 & 1141 on the 2nd test.

Also the "CO%" went from .70 & .54 down to .01 & .00.

How did installing one hose have that big of an effect?

Each test was done after about a half hour of driving to make sure the car was warmed up.

This is a high mileage car 180k but shouldn't it pass with a new cat, o2 sensor and tune up?

I've attached the results.

Please let me know if you have an suggestions on how to get it to pass.

Running lean based on the numbers. This and the high NO can be a vacuum leak. Check all the hoses you put on and anything else that was moved. Also check the oil cap o-ring.

Also make sure the 2-pin connector by the DME is connected to the jumper. This retards timing 3 degrees and will further reduce NO. Disconnect after smog for better performance.

I forgot to tighten the hose clamp from the intake boot to the AFM.

There were cracks in the PCV valve hose. And the PCV valve doesn’t seem to seal properly.

Replacing all those as well as a new o ring on the oil cap.

If it still doesn’t pass I will try to make a smoke test machine and look for vacuum leaks that way.

Failed gain today!

This time its to rich.

The tech wrote on the results sheet possible problems like misfire... But there was no sign it was misfiring.

My only guess is maybe its the AFM?

Hopefully someone can help.

Does anyone know a shop in SoCal that can help me get this thing to pass?

Was it fully warmed up prior to test? Its possible it was still in cold start; either not warmed up or maybe the temp sensor for the DME is bad. Other possibility for rich running is the vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator is disconnected...personally i think unlikely because its not mega rich. The other possibility is O2 sensor is not functioning correctly.

Also tell the SMOG guys you want to run a pre-test before the actual. This will stop the failed results being transmitted to the BAR.
