I can't take credit for that engine, it belongs to another Pelican board member.

O.K. the part circled in red is not there and ther is no t section either nor is ther any where for the t sections to enter the throttle body.
On top of the filter is the solenoid it has a 3-4 mil spout coming out not blocked off and a female end spade connecter, I put 12v's to this before an petrol shot out of the spout.

I will take some pictures of mine just hold on it 10.30 pm here so not much light, gonna get a lamp.

Andi, what is the engine VIN? I am starting to suspect you do not have a '73 engine, but an earlier pre '71 engine. On those the cold start enrichment does run from the top of the solenoid to the air filter housing!

tryan 02-19-2003 02:39 PM

cannibalized.

andrew, try to take a good shot of the injection pump, also. read the other mfi threads for early mfi injection cold start enrichment. good info.

the vin is stamped on the right side of the block on the alt. base.

VIN: 9113200901
ENGINE No:6200709

Thats what it says on the owners documents.

Also its a left hand drive imported from Germany

Help!

Rot 911 02-19-2003 02:54 PM

Andi go out and get the Engine number off the engine. Look at the fan housing go to about the 4 o'clock position. Look at the side where the housing meets the engine block the engine number is stamped vertically onto a flat spot. What is the number?

Now we are getting somewhere. You have a '73 911 with a 1970 E engine!!!!! For the cold start read this thread, but ignore the comments I made in it I thought they were talking about a post '70 engine. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/98441-more-mfi.html

AndrewWolfeUK 02-19-2003 03:01 PM

O.K. just checked its 6200709 as staited on the doc's

Rot 911 02-19-2003 03:02 PM

You have a 1970 engine. read the post just above your last one.

tryan 02-19-2003 03:11 PM

look into the tensioner upgrade also.

AndrewWolfeUK 02-19-2003 03:18 PM

Nice.

Now we have worked out i should have the system in the air box.

What do i do?

I read this bit:
' Trust me. Disconnect the enrichment solenoid on the fuel filter that feeds those nozzles in the air-box. They're dangerous. Then hook up the switch to the enrichment solenoid and it will work like a dream'

But i don't understand this.

Can you make it any clearer?

Kurt;

ARE YOU OK? -- I mean are you OK? Take it easy on Andi - he's only got 12 posts so far! It's not like his car is down and he needs it up RIGHT NOW! If it takes him an hour or two (or even a day or two) to catch up on the reading and check his car -- that's OK.

Welcome aboard Andi!SmileWavy

ROLF~! Yes I am ok. There for awhile we really were speaking 2 different languages. I had it fixed in my mind he had a '73 MFI in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. I should have asked the most obvious question first, "what is the engine number."

AndrewWolfeUK 02-19-2003 03:51 PM

Hi John

So what do i do then guy's?

This picture will explain why i'm so keen to get her running propper.
People in the U.K. have never seen anything like it, but i feel silly when it takes me 15 mins to start it outside the pub!

Thanks againhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/theporka1.JPG

AndrewWolfeUK 02-19-2003 04:23 PM

Anyone?

AndrewWolfeUK 02-19-2003 04:50 PM

top

tryan 02-19-2003 05:00 PM

find the enrichment solenoid on the 70 mfi pump. wire it to set the rack to full rich durring starting as jluetjen did on his car. post a pic of the pump.

you have nothing to disconnect, but do cap the solenoid that squirted fuel when you put 12 volts to it.

i logged off and went for a spin with the top off in the 914.

AndrewWolfeUK 02-19-2003 05:05 PM

No problem just show me what you want a picture of and i get it done in 2 mins.

Thanks again

tryan 02-19-2003 05:24 PM

i have a 73 system. i 'll look on the 70 mfi pump diagrams for the circuit.maybe jluetjen could point out the 12v connection.
