Rust under front hood seal

I recently found that my 82 911 sc front hood seal has been trapping water underneath (see attached pics). I found two areas of rust forming. Drying it out good now but I have read about naval Jelly, POR and other temporary methods to keep it at bay. Any advice to keep from having to cut right now would be appreciated. I know the only way to stop indefinitely is to cut it out but I'm not ready to go down that road yet.

Here's a similar thread which might help your decision.

Front Windshield Rust

It has to be fixed eventually, the sooner the better.

Good thing is you found it now.

Wire brush above and below -

Really soak it with Rust converter - I like Eastwood-

https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-rust-converter.html?SRCCODE=PLA00010&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi9CPgO7s2QIVS1uGCh2rwgjfEAQYASAB EgIIgvD_BwE

Rust encapsulator . Again Eastwood.

Should be good for a while... or use it as an excuse for a full resto...

We should all take stock of this. The discoloration at the fender/cowl seam and the blisters on the cowl didn't happen overnight. Even small locations can have a bigger issue hiding underneath.

Inspect your cars and even the slightest change in paint might be a chance to fend off looming issues. Of course if the slightest issue is noticed we already let it go too far. But better now cause it will never get better on it's own.

I can just imagine what some of the folks here that have restored some of the pre-galvanized cars started from. Some knew what they were getting into but others that found the lurking corrosion under good looking paint.

BlueWing nailed it...in additional to my Carrera I also have a 240Z...the configuration of how the fender mounts to the unibody is quite similar in that car to the 911 and either can easily rust. Galvinized or not, they will rust in those areas and my guess is the rust the OP can see is coming from the fender support area that is such a PITA to clean / access without removing the fenders. Classic Carreras is a great spot to spend some time and really get your OCD into high gear: Classic Carreras

Good luck, OP.
