Uh-OH left over part where does it go?

Initial startup after top end re-build and gasket kit install. Everything is back to together and functioning Only thing out of order is the alternator light is on bright red 100% of the time and this wire is homeless. Are they related? 81 3.0 911SC new style alternator. Thanks ahead of time - Rob

Generally attached to the top of the engine case and to one of the studs that hold the plascic air guide to the back of the alt housing or directly to the D- ground terminal on the alt. Is your blue wire attached to D+/61 terminal and the brown wires to D-? Maybe they're switched, because if the blue wire is on D- (ground) the light would never go off.
