Is there a way to check if an engine is sealed up properly before installing?
I would assume running it on a dyno would be a logical move but is there something that can be done BEFORE or in lieu of dyno testing to ensure case halves/ other areas of leaking sealed properly?

Engine test stand.........
I run my engines on an engine test prior to installation in the car. After the test run, all you need is bolt the motor back and drive the car.

if a newly sealed motor is leaking you have bigger problems than another motor drop....

I have a tendency to get distracted and might end up missing one of the places that needs to be tightened.

tony does enough rebuilds a test stand is worth while. also a requirement if you build an engine and ship it and let the owner install it. just put it in.

Case through bolts with oil around them, many seals, JB Weld covered studs, lots of aluminum or aluminum mating surfaces, etc. These motors remind of old Chevy V8's, they leak like sieves unless you've been building them for a long time and know what to look out for.
