Technical specification book.. what is it?

Can someone tell me what this is for? And if it is worth the ~$45 USD??

If you have the Official Porsche work shop manual, you already have the specs that are in the Tec Spec book. The Tec Spec book is a pocket book that has all the specs in one place. Everything like torque specs, alignment specs, engine tolerances etc.

Probably a good addition to Bentley or Haynes.

I would keep that, no longer available.

It's just a neat little addition to your other manuals, etc. I would pay $45 for one if I didn't already have one.

Which doesn't makes sense... because there were major changes to transmission in '87.
I don't want to get this book to find out it 'assumes' that what worked in '85 applies to '87, which sometimes doesn't.

hi it make sense...911 1984-87 Carrera is the book for your 911.No they did not made any other books until 1990 for C2-C4...

I did search around a little bit to see if there was an extension for 88-89 and 82-83. Found nothing.

I do think I saw that the 964 starts in 89 for the C4.

yes ,October 1989 was 1st C2 made ........as of any 911 years anything October plus is already next year production ;-)

I use these two books the most for helping people here if I can. I hardly need the other pile with info contained in this forum.

That is an original Redbook. They are expensive.

If I ever sell I will describe the coffee stains and grease as "patina"

It's packed with technical goodies worth the price. If you don't mind the grease, fingerprints and stains, you can find them cheaper used.

They have a lot of cool stuff in them. Every spec, in one place, and then some. Essential if you are going to take an engine apart, certainly. Fascinating book for engineers.

Anecdotally, there has been at least one robust discussion on this site about the claimed volume of air moved by the cooling fan. From my Spec Book: 1500 l/s at 6000 rpm. Yeah, that's liters per second.


7000 rpm (+/- 200) is my rev limiter. That's interesting to me right now. Thanks for making me get out my Spec Book.
